Could I ask Swans fans on this site how you feel about potentially the biggest home and away game of the season for the Ducks being moved down to Bunbury? Would the decision to move the match have been made by Swans or the WAFL and given Swans financial position how much extra is it going to cost the club to put the league game in Bunbury whilst playing the lower grades in Perth?. How many Swans fans will miss seeing this game live despite the fact that they have signed up for memberships which guarantee them entry to 10 home games a year?.

If these regional games are going to happen, they need to be announced to members prior to the season so people know there will only be 9 games at Bassendean during the year.

I am not happy

Yeah I don't blame you one bit for spewing mate - but in all honesty the Mandurah rubbish do absolutely zilch down there in their half so it may be an opportunity to put yourselves out there as an attractive destination for young fellas

Would not surprise me if Howson & the WC filth have a hold of a string here given their historic links down there either

Poor organisation from the WAFL - but what else is new , farken contriving idiots

It is always the home clubs choice of which home game to use for the CSES. They get compensation.

A game in Bunbury was announced earlier in the year. When Swans worked out they picked the wrong game they tried to back out. Unfortunately the SWFL had already had a commitment for the game, they didn't want to change because they cover both Swans and East Perth zones and knew it was going to be a money spinner.

They didn't officially announce it earlier because the WAFC and Swans have been arguing about the compensation figure.

Always good to hear both sides of a story before pointing the finger.....good thing for SD is that no WCE players will be allowed to play on a country ground........easy 4 ptsin the bag......stuff the money, just think of the 4 pts and one step closer to a top 2 position...

I don't have a problem with playing WAFL footy in the country. In fact it is really important IMO. I just think that Swans need to be more up front with their members about this as early as possible. In other words let them know when selling memberships that it is likely that one of the home games will be played away from Bassendean and give them the option of a 9 game pass at an 10% less cost rather than require them to go to a Regional area to use their membership. There was a similar situation a few years ago when a home game was moved to Karratha with not a lot of notice given.

Also from a football point of view Swans have given away a significant home ground advantage in a game which may have a major bearing on whether they finish top 2.

Mikeh I will be going to the Bunbury game. If the WAFL's official organ, the Budget, was perhaps more up-to-date with the fixtures then more members and supporters would have been privy to this information much earlier. I suspect that the decision to play in Bunbury was very much dependent on Swans been given sufficient financial guarantees to make up for the loss of a game at Basso. Certainly I enjoy games at Basso; however, there is a positive insofaras there may be some ducks and drakes played between the Eagles and their reserves team with respect to how many of the Eagles players will be able to play in their reserves' team that day.

One would suspect that providing the exposure of Swans to the supporters and prospective future players down in Bunbury may reap its own benefits.

Long time reader so I thought I'd chime in. Not sure what all the fuss is about. The South West region is an integral part of the Swan Districts FC setup. They deserve a home game. This is a good idea for two reasons.
The funding from the country community and grants that can be attained from playing a country match mean that it is cost efficient. Do you think the board would let this happen if it wasn't a viable option? I did read on Facebook a past President said it would cost between 30-40 k. It might but they say you have to spend money to make money.
In the past the AFL teams haven't allowed players to play in country matches so perhaps East Perth might field an under strength team. Which would be good for Swans.

Also Barney your comments could be considered libelous. Unless you can supply your facts, I'd suggest you might want your comment removed.

This round should of been toll to the members and Swan Districts supporters at the start of the season ,
As they have paid for ten home games. I knew about 3 to 4 weeks it was going a head. Is it good for the country supporters Yes but of a the cost of a big home game playing East Perth NO . I would have to agree with the former President that we will lose $30 to $40k on this .
