Is someone checking whether Di Natale has an Italian passport? I actually don't think it is such a big issue, especially having a NZ passport.

Spot on BC - does she know her dad?

Anyway Q and A will be running out of guests at this rate.

Arkroyal, its a big issue as far at the Australian Constitution goes, its illegal to do it.

Has anyone checked if Shanghai Sam has renounced his Iranian citizenship yet? My guess is no.

Baz: your absolutely right. Up until 1986 all British subjects could sit in the parliament, rememberring that all Australians were British when the Constitution was drawn up 1901. As late as 1976, the Australian census recorded the local born under the term British rather than Australian. It also meant that 'British subjects' -- the UK, Canada, NZ, could be conscriptted into the Australian army , whereas foreigners could not unless they had been naturalised Australians. This is why I have a little bit of sympathy for the Kiwis and Brits

they have to be replaced by members of the same party because of the 1975 crisis.

Derryn Hinch said he surrendered his before the election. Would have thought he would retain it until after the result was known as the may not have won a seat. Love to know the actual date he did it..

Absolutely correct, it wasn't until the 1980s that the High Court started to think differently, when I joined the cops you either had to be an Australian Citizen or British Subject, i.e. NZ UK or Canada was fine as you could swear an oath to the same Queen. They were not considered foreign.

The whole thing is a dodgy area because we allow 'dual citzenship'.
