After the game Cummins made what must be one of the greatest understatements made in recent times when he stated that Australia had a "few things to tidy up".
Hard to know where to start with that. Would have to rank with the worst performances by Australia in a world cup. I am wondering if there was some disquiet in the team about the axing of Carey. Most of them just didn't seem interested

there's 2 or 3 very experienced ex-players who are right on the mark with their commentary on this regime
some quite bizarre tactics that are being blown away very easily by opposing sides
there will be some absolute floggings dished out if this stuff continues
the ACB cannot allow this squad to still be together for the upcoming Test series in Australia

Luckily for both Cummins & Ronald McDonald they are from the East Coast and thus being spared from the usual Eastern States media frenzy that the likes of Hughes/Langer would have faced with these current appalling results under their watch!!!

I cant actually remember more listless performances across all formats as I have seen this year alone from this Aus squad.
Even those mid 80s teams that were just outclassed against close to the best side of all time the WI (due to the retirements of legends & then S.A Rebel Tours) put up more effort than the current lot of comfortable millionaires!!!

Bailey and Mcdonald and the rest of the team management need to be accountable for their decisions around this squad
Namely
1. Why is there a guy with a broken finger in the squad?
2. Why was Agar not replaced with a like for like (i.e a spinner) when it was obvious that was what was needed in the conditions?
3. Why did so many players who were obviously not going to be a part of the world cup play in the lead up games in South Africa and India?
4. Why is Maxwell the only bowler who even looks like keeping runs in check whereas the frontline attack of Starc, Hazlewood Cummins and Zampa are bleeding runs?
5. Why do the batsmen keep making the same mistakes and not learning from their dismissals?

We are only 2 rounds into a 9 round tournament and it appears that the gap between the top 5 teams in the competition ( India, Pakistan, England, New Zealand and South Africa) and the other 5 is rather large.
This will mean that it is likely the next 3 - 4 weeks will see 5 teams jostling for semi final positions and the others playing meaningless ODIs. This is the downfall of the competition structured the way it is. Australia should really be coming home with one more loss in a group stage but they still have 7 games to go.

Agree mikeh, Bailey, Ronald et al should be made accountable, but so should the players.....they are professionals, who get paid stupid money for representing their country. Agree  BH, too many are too comfortable.

mikeh...out of interest, who's that like 4 like spinner for Agar.....surely not Kuhnemann....going to be a long arsed series if Cummins et al don't start firing up..

As for changes before the next test series this summer? Aint going to happen......pretty sure Warner, Marsh, Smith, Labuschagne, Carey, Starc, Hazlewood and Cummins all played in Aust last test match and series....Aust is one of the few sides  that sticks fat with its Test team for its ODI side

Always have done....not sure why, considering the success Eng, NZ, India  etc have had of late playing ODI with different players, especially with their top 6.

Surely separate dedicated limited overs cricket squad, captain and coaching staff (from the test set up) would be the way to go. Don't like to knock Cummins as he is a terrific cricketer and servant of Aussie cricket but his selection in the team before we talk about captaincy could be questioned. No one really in this team would have a safe spot on current form. From the coach to the boot-studder a broom needs to go through the place .

Its time for a normal coach to take over.
The players have been picking and choosing who does and does not play
The amount of training sessions and the time per session. This is totally bizarre in professional sport.
The captain is trying to run the show both on and off the field.Totally incompetent at both.
Google Seek and find a new bus driver and coach. The players no longer have a hard edge. There as soft as butter. You will be mauled in a place like India.
We have so much talent in the shield+ BBL.How can Bancroft or David not be on this tour.Wheres our seamers and back up spinners.Or are we going full pace on road pitches.
Even the loyalist of Cummins/Mcdonald fans [Aka Freeze]  has turned on the two puppets.

I can just imagine what the likes of Richie Benaud , Ian Chappell , Bobby Simpson , Allan Border , Stephen Waugh & Rick Ponting are privately thinking of this lot
and that wouldn't be Tea & bikkies

Nine of the eleven who played against South Africa were over 30, with Labuschange not far behind on 29. Glenn Maxwell, the first change bowler turns 35 on Saturday. Cummins is 30, Starc 33 and Hazlewood 32. They have been relying on the same players for far too long without exposing any new players to team, and it is coming back to bite them.
I'm anticipating a few years in the doldrums for the test and and one day team unless they can introduce some new players and get them to perform at the level required,
