The first young Victorian whom noticed get recruited JKT by the Demons -- a very good player.

What is novel about this Subi side:

It looks like a very rarely seen Subiaco side where there is only the 1 Victorian playing for them AR- Mike Sheldon?

bease -- well done -- it was relatively common that year. I could not find a game with zero, because as you know, at least one of the following usually played:

Polson
BF
Sheldon

other players, including Fletcher and Bennett made guest appearances for the club

Freezin wrote: Yeah Rankin was a fave of mine gtr...came over with Big Ron from Fitzroy with another no nonsense defender in Peter Keays.. Waterson was a beautiful left foot kick....there was another guy mid 80s from Hawthorn....last name of Mathews?...forward type, played more reserves than league....

Steve Matthews Freeze?
Michael Buckley was another from Hawthorn maybe swapped in an exchange for Judgey or Snuffy in the early 80s?
Jeff Cassidy was a ripper from Geelong very dangerous Rover/Half Forward who was deadly around the goals.

Cheers BH....kinda thinking it was Buckley now....not sure why I had Matthews in my thoughts....yep Cassidy was a goodun for EF...replica of Judgey in many aspects. Your ability to recall WAFL players is second to none mate....very impressive

I've said that before Freez...BH is a walking encyclopedia on all things WAFL. If ever someone holds a WAFL focused quiz night, I bags being on his team. B)

Cheers fellas probably no surprise to you blokes but yes I did win the only Footy Quiz Night I have attended a decade or so ago at Claremont.
Have managed to keep a few old Budgets and other books/magazines from the games I went too back in the good ol days but unfortunately have also lost a few in the many moves and travels I made in my 20s.
Thanks to the likes of Swansfan4life, SD and a couple of others on here I have managed to get some back up until 1987 pretty much when WAFL footys zenith finished anyway plus waflfootyfacts is my reference point these days just to check the finer details.
I have to admit to doing the same at the State Library years ago when I was studying as well Freeze.
I would love to find a WA Cricket book from the 1970s that I used to read from my Primary School library years ago but have never been able to find it ever again and cant remember the name of it which doesnt help but gee it was a ripper.

As a kid I remember the old man buying the Daily News, Western Mail & The West and I used to only read the sports section but especially studied the footy line ups for that weekend.
Those lucky enough to be named down the spine even managed to get their picture in the line ups as well if you remember Freeze?
Great days mate.
