Have recruits from Victoria had a greater impact on the WAFL in the last twenty years? Is it because they are coming over younger trying to make the AFL, as opposed to players, such as Peter Bennett and Neville Fields, whose careers were mostly behind them?

Interesting to go back through and have a look - some came before their prime, during or after. Bob Johnson certainly had a big impact at East Fremantle after a big impact at Melbourne. I'll start having more of a think about.

By the way the Neville Fields bit won't be lost on Freez - he's a huge wrap for his time down at Moss St, don't know whether he puts him in the same league as Durnthaler but it would be pretty close.

Seriously Ark....Seriously....you have to mention Nifty Neville...very true Oooll...I remember Nifty's debut for EF thinking WTF....who is this cooked spud?....tho on all honesty Nifty never kicked the ball out on the full as much as Durnthaler did...tho Nifty never touched the ball that much either.. .

remember fondly the efforts and impact ex Vic guys like David Rankin and Colin Waterson had on the EFFC and the WAFL than Nifty Neville in the 80s....I'd say Subi have had more luck with Victorian recruits than most over the last 20 years....McGough was a champ for EF and Ross Young was a beauty also for the PFC from memory....both guys delisted in their prime from the respective AFL clubs

Swans haven’t been big recruiters of Victorians over the years certainly in my time, if we have recruited from Interstate it has been more ACT (Blackaby, Kenny, Werner, Maiden) back in the early 80s although only Kenny played in any of our 3 Premierships in that era and more latterly TAS (Geappen & Robinson) and Daryl Sutton for 1 year (1981).
Wayne Twomey was a good one we got from VIC.
Before my time Ian Cooper was a decent player from StK whilst Stuart Magee from Foots was a bust.

BH you can add McCorkle, Bevan (Sydney), Brenton Cooper to PFC list.
Deduct Rea,and Washfold. Perth recruited them from other WAFL clubs as was Stephen Mount.
Was Brett Yorgey from Sydney?

Pound for Pound the best I saw for South was Noel Carter - both for pure match winning ability & longevity
Still in WA and attends some South games

Noel Carter was a superstar mate but I left him out as he is a Tasmanian originally before Richmond then SF.

I think Bevan was from NSW Smokey thats why I didnt include him but yes you are right Rea & Washfold were recruited from Vic by WP before heading to Lathlain Park.
Cooper & McCorkell were both good players for Perth for only the one season unfortunately, probably can add the likes of White, Graham, Ferguson, Carlyle, Wilson, Burgiel etc
