I think they will be with us until we finish at least in the bottom part of the 5.

BC wrote: Well jack...here's the rub...with recruiting restrictions not seen anywhere else in world sport and the meteoric rise of the likes of Perth, EF, EP and others I think we're coming back to the field at a rate of knots. Our 90 point GF win last year is a distant memory and we'll have to be at our very best to be competitive. Our training standards must lift, our culture needs to go up another level and the players have to take a death or dishonour attitude. If that happens we might just make the 5 but that's a big IF.

BC you cannot honestly believe that Subiaco will "come back to the field" this season as you put it. They have been so far in front of everyone else in the last 6 years and but for Fremantle stacked Peel teams in 2016 and 2017 your mob would be gunning for their 7th flag in succession. Even the restrictions are not going to stop you in 2020, sure you might lose a few more games but my money would be on Subiaco to finish top and win the flag.

I was just going along with Jack's theme of being a bit light hearted about it all. To be honest Mike you don't win a GF by 90 points, only lose 3 or 4 from that side and consequently drop off big time. I think we'll be hard to beat again this year but as SS says, the recruiting restrictions and star players retiring from next year onwards will bring us back to the pack thereafter.

Right that makes more sense, I didn't pick up on the satirical nature of the discussion.....

The "Subi rule" is heavy handed but it will work over the next couple of 3 years, it's when they choose to remove the rule that will be critical to both Subi and the comp.

Bush and ‘Burbs:
thewest.com.au/sport/bush-and-burbs/bush...-more-ng-b881447185z

for the ones who cant open the link

The West Australian sports reporter Jordan McArdle takes a look at what’s happening in the country and amateur leagues around WA this off-season.

Big signings at Kingsway
Perth Football League outfit Kingsway have added a former AFL player and a classy Subiaco forward in huge boost for their A Grade finals hopes.
Chris Johnson, a former Melbourne and Carlton has signed with the Roos as a senior assistant coach, as announced on the club’s Facebook page.

The 34-year-old East Fremantle product made 46 AFL appearances from 2004-10.

He is still weighing up whether to play in 2020.
Two-time WAFL premiership player Halligan is another massive addition.

The 25-year-old kicked 87 majors in league games but was restricted to one reserves match last season due to a knee issue.

His last senior appearance was the 2018 grand final thrashing of West Perth, when he booted five goals.

Halligan links up with his younger brother Luke, 21, and close mate, former WA cycling star Matt Jackson, at the Roos.

Former Fremantle and Subiaco forward Michael Wood has left the club to play for Boulder in the Goldfields competition.
Kukerin-Dumbleyung jumping for Joyce
Dual Subiaco premiership player Justin Joyce is set to join his brothers, Damon and Brynn, in the Upper Great Southern league this year.

The 27-year-old, who played 58 league games at the Lions including their past two flags, will line up for Kukerin-Dumbleyung.

He informed his Subiaco teammates of his decision last week after losing the passion to play at State-league level.

“I really want to go and experience some new things and challenges in life, as I’ve played football my whole life and been a part of Subiaco since I was 14 in the development leagues,” Joyce told the club website.

It’s a huge boost for the team which finished bottom on the UGSFL ladder last season with a 3-11 record.

In other UGSFL news, Boddington gun Michael Humble has returned to the WAFL.

The 21-year-old former Peel Thunder midfielder, who won Leo Graham Medal as the league’s best player last year, was recruited by West Coast.
School’s out for University guns
University will be without two of their biggest names for 2020, with captain Darren Mumford and Seb Bentley moving on.

Five-time premiership hero Mumford, who booted four goals in Uni’s grand final win over Fremantle CBC last season, has relocated to Melbourne.

Bentley is another massive loss, with the BJ Giles medallist snapped up by West Coast’s WAFL team.

The star wingman will at least line up for the students when he’s not on Eagles duties.

The reigning Perth Football League A Grade premiers have picked up a couple of ex-WAFL players in Ben Harding (Peel Thunder/East Fremantle) and Ben Miller (East Perth).

Ex-South Freo trio to play in Apple Isle
A trio of former South Fremantle players will call Tasmania home this season, including livewire Tyson Pickett.

Pickett, the younger brother of Richmond premiership star Marlion, have signed for Lauderdale in the Tasmanian State League alongside former Bulldogs teammates Andre Coutinho and Jesse Musika.

The 22-year-old produced one of the best best individual performances in the country last season, booting 16 goals for Port Hedland Rovers in the North Pilbara competition.

He featured at league level for South 10 times, all in 2016.

Coutinho, 21, was a consistent contributor in the WAFL reserves but never played a senior game.

Musika, 22, last played for the Bulldogs in 2018.

Pickett is the third North Pilbara star to sign with a state-league team this off-season.

Karratha Kats goalsneak Daniel Farmer Jnr, a relative of Jeff ‘The Wizard’ Farmer, and Dampier midfield bull Lewis Upton will line up for Subiaco in 2020.

Upton, described as a mix between Dustin Martin and Scott Pendlebury by his Sharks coach and ex-Docker Steven Dodd, has been tearing up the track at the Lions as he pushes for a league debut
WAFL talent heads to ‘The Creek’
Bullcreek-Leeming have bolstered their playing ahead of a return to the Perth Football League’s B Grade competition.

Former Shark Jesse Adamini and ex-Bulldog Chris Ah Siu headline the influx of off-season recruits at the Bombers.

Adamini, 23, featured 18 times for East Fremantle’s league side, while Ah Siu, 23, played five for South after making his debut in 2018.

Ah Siu will join brothers Alan and Matt at the club.

Key position player Fraser Daly also has league experience, while Harrison King came through the Sharks colts system before playing for Kellerberrin-Tammin.

The Bombers lost a thrilling C1 Grade decider to Bassendean last season, with both clubs earning a promotion.
