Sums up the comp mate....it is what it is.....take out the Subi $ factor not sure how any AFL player can "afford" to play WAFL footy.....TBH I am surprised Masten is playing WAFL at 31/32

Jones and Kersten were virtually WAFL players last year. I think SF may have got Pickett and Jarrod Garlett, though one may be invited to train with the Eagles. It's unclear whether they and Kersetn have signed with SF or just reverted there on being delisted. Things may develop now the draft is over. Jeff Garlett might be up for grabs.

It's just a by product of the generation we live in. 10, 15, 20 years ago blokes would come back and play State Football, irrespective of whether it was for their original club or another. They played, because that's just what they did.

There doesn't seem to be as much desire as there used to be to continue playing at a lower level once your time in the AFL is up.

Players prefer to travel, relax or move on to the next phase of their life.

I'm not having a go at today's players it's just the way they've been brought up or are hardwired these days compared to those of yesteryear.

What did you expect would happen? The comp will be evened up at the expense of quality, instead of the greedy bastards boosting the other clubs

So am I. A 25 year old 10-25 years ago was more likely to come back and play at a lower level like the WAFL or any other State League, than what a 25 year old would be today. Granted there are still some that do come back but its no where near as common as what it used to be.

Cheers mate. I hope his knee holds up. He had a red hot crack at coming back this year at Subi but just couldn't get it right which was a shame as he has some talent and a bit of mongrel in him which is unusual for a medium sized forward. 5 goals in the 2018 GF would have been a highlight no doubt. Good luck with your footy in the future Kyle.

Agree BC, one of my favourites, could take a massive hang when he felt like it, very smart tough footballer.

Have heard that apparently he has left the door slightly ajar for a possible return to Subi next year depending on how he gets through this year. So you never know. Hopefully things go well for him.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned...

East Perth have signed Angus Schumacher, delisted by Carlton at the end of this year.
