Interesting to see Zareth Roe PFC overlooked in first intake. Played all 5 league games for PFC so far this year...

What is the go with all of these over age boys (born in late 1998) being included in the WA U/18s squad this year?
It used to be a rule 3 were allowed for special circumstances like being from a remote area or missed a lot of football due to injury etc has this now changed?

Seems to be LH but the split between East Perth Country and City is still about 50/50 in these selections

On a quick calculation East Perth's country zone has produced about a third of all country players selected in the combined 16s/18s intake this year. Might depend on how you categorise some of the Peel players but I think that supports your point LH.

That Capel-Busselton-Dunsborough-Yallingup-Margaret River-Augusta area is only going to get bigger as well. Might be time to move it over to a WAFL club's zone to give these kids a proper pathway.

I would question the pathway for Swans juniors BH. How many b grade players have you picked up from EP over the last few years. This at the same time as having strong colts teams at Swans. Tongue in cheek but who would suggest should have these traditional EP zones?

For starters we should get back Ellenbrook and Bellajura.

For every league game we have 22 places available for Swans' players to be selected; how many spots do you have for East Perth players?

Is this a dig at the alignment BH? If is then perhaps you can consider the number of country zone EP players being well enough developed to make the 16s and 18s (and of course the prospect of being drafted to the AFL) and then consider the number of players form the areas you mention playing in the League and Ressies at EP (despite the WCE "road block").
As for S42's suggestion that Ellenbrook and Ballajura be given over to Swans - the effect of that would be almost to turn the Metro Central Conference Yr 11 and 12 grades into an exclusively Swans competition has both Perth and East Perth are already poorly represented in those grades. About half are already in the Swans Zone.

Swan do I count playing for Swans reserves as an opportunity for EP players. Please set out the parameters. Being serious for one second, hypothetically EP finishes the alignment then loses its junior zones how is that sustainable for EP. And how does a weak EP help the WAFL survive or be credible.
