Mate your right - I reckon with the dearth of entertainment in the summer months, ch 10 or someone else would pick it up for sure, so many options now with digital TV. A cashed up WAFL could lure some coverage to begin with and a sponsor or two would come in.

I reckon we could raise at least $100 Mill from the sale of the two licences. WCE have $60 Mill in the bank and are the richest most profitable club in the AFL , that business would be worth a packet.

I agree with all that but we could have done without that crook Bondy - wonder how life is breaking rocks in hell for that Kunt

Oh yes the 80's were so wonderful we had Bondy ripping anyone and everyone off, Burkey running his crooked WA Inc empire and we ended the decade with 17% interest rates!! And people think it's bad today?

If your just talking footy then up until '87 it was great, started the decade with SD (possibly the best team in the last 50 years), SF & Cl dominating, then EF had their go then Subi won the last full strength WAFL GF.

We have to do something Swandog and your idea is sticking your toe in the water then expanding to some SANFL sides. Its a start and a way to test the water and definatley NO COMISSION INVOLVEMENT.If we dont think outside the box the WAFL will continue its slow dying death.

80s were great, started in fine form with a South flag, Bondy was a legend, sponsored the mighty Bulldogs and brought the Cup to Freo. 80s ended with the the blodny eagles wafl in decline a last hurrah in 89 GF with nearly 40k, after that it was all downhill, wafl went bust and then the shockers farked it over for good.

Bloody oath mate, need to rid ourselves of the wafc, cash in and start again. Who will be the catalyst, that is my question?

SS the only the thinking is differnt to the 80"s now.If we thought the same way now interest rates would be over 20% as our debt is much larger now in relation to GDP.Was on the radio the other day the only country going into bebt faster than AU in % terms is China.
On footy in the early 90"s there where still crowds of over 3,000 regulary at Wafl matches Looking at the WAFL Online data the second AFL Team is when attendances went into freefall.

Its up to blokes like us Baz to float this idea.As for the White Knight we dont know who it will be ATM..When you look at the EPL in England every club has a chairman who pumps in millions of pounds to there clubs. If they dont they end up like Aston Villa rock bottom.
Swandog mentioned Twiggy Forrest. If either of us where multi -millionaires or other posters on Oz Footy Net.We could buy the competition outright and run it our way in the Summer months alignment and Afl free.

85 % of that money comes from the rent payed to play at Subiaco Oval.Football not running the New Burswood Stadium. So where does the money come from then.Trouble brewing just over the horizon. The Wafl is broke and will stay broke if we just continue in the way we are now.
