West Perth maintains that, while it was aware of the intention to form a deal with Channel Seven, no such agreement was in place when the club signed its sponsorship deal with Channel Nine. In a letter to the WAFC, Falcons president Brett Raponi said the deal with Channel Nine had been approved by the commission when it started in 2014.

END OF STORY.

Hey guys. Brett Sprigg put the interview on Twitter if you use that check out his handle. I don't know how to link it to here.

McHenry claims

He asked the Falcons to include an opt-out clause for the 2015 and 2016 seasons while final details with Channel 7 were being confirmed.

Strange that over the last few months of this Saga this was not mentioned and other threats were made... Kick you out of the finals - No home finals for WPFC etc etc.
Yet NO MENTION OF THE ABOVE???

Come on what a farce

It has been previously reported. From an article in March

"The WAFC provided ongoing advice to West Perth throughout the club’s negotiations with Channel 9 in early 2014 to try and prevent commercial conflicts from occurring," Walton said.

"This included correspondence throughout the months of February and March, 2014, prior to West Perth advising the WAFC it had signed an agreement with Channel 9 on March 26, 2014.

"Correspondence from the WAFC included advice that a clause should be added to the agreement saying the Channel 9 logo could only appear on the jumper for 2014 as the WAFC was negotiating with Channel 7 to televise games beyond that.

GREAT you quote an article by the West Australian which is owned by Chn 7. Similiar to todays article in the West.. Dont you think there is a conflict here?

Did you read the WA TODAY article from today which is not connected to the Dispute?

Lets have a look at another statement by a paper not connect to CHN 7 or the WAFC.
I have a very extensive bookmark folder which gives a lot of Contradicatory views on the issues. Including this one from the CHN 9 Director

But, Nine’s managing director David Mott said those discussions were before he was appointed.

Late last year Mr Mott said Nine had been “frozen” out telecast rights by the WAFC anyway.

He told The Sunday Times the station’s “numerous” requests to meet with Mr Walton to pitch for the rights had been “rejected”.

It appears the tenders by the WAFC were not handled correctly and this is illegal.

Well said Freeze I think a few here are going to end having been found out to have barked up the wrong tree all along, WP are looking more and more isolated on this and appear to be engaging in fraudulent practices to cover tracks, I hope for the sake of the comp they have not let individual board members ego run the entire thing into a very ugly place.

Bazza my understanding of the timeline is that the West Perth agreement was signed approximately 12 months before the Channel 7 - WAFC agreement. That is the bottom line. It was incumbent on the WAFC to ensure that any agreement they signed with Channel 7 DID NOT IMPINGE on the legal agreement with West Perth and Channel 9. It is arrant nonsense that West Perth should have foregone $100,000 in sponsorship on a wing and prayer may be something will happen in the future.

One other thing to consider is who is paying whom in the Channel 7 WAFC agreement.

Your understanding is wrong, the contract was up for renewal, wpfc were given full warning of the consequences if they went ahead and signed regardless of the warnings of the and the breach of rule under the the WAFC licence regs if they signed a spinsorship deal in direct breach of a sponsorship deal the wafc had signed.

Clearly if this is the case wpfc has not got a leg to stand on,which is why its now apparent they have engaged in doctering of docs, if this is the case its very serious.

Further wpfc have refused all attempts to resolve the matter.

Finally and this is the crucial fact for me at the most recent meeting all other wafl clubs were present when contractual docs and timelines were presented as evidence to parties, all parties are now united with the wafc stance, wpfc are out on their own, which is a clear indication that something is very wrong at Joondy.

You might want to ring sdfc to confirm all this.

If confirmed wpfc are in a mess.

wafc have confirmed that they will not throw them out of the finals, but it means that the games will not be broadcast.

I look forward to wpfc launching legal action if they chose to do so, somehow I dont think it will happen, the game will just not be broadcast so a big blow for wafl.

Big blow for WAFL my arse Bazza. Show me where TV coverage of the WAFL this year has increased or benefited any clubs financial position.

Yep as it alludes to in the WA TODAY article.

"Furthermore the Seven Network is rumoured to have paid nothing to the WAFC for the rights so no financial return from the rights can be expected by any WAFL club."

Another interesting point is when WIN 9 was taken over by 9 again David Mott wanted to re negoiate with the WAFC...
Channel 9 said they would broadcast games with EP wearing the 7 Logo.
They would continue to sponser WP but also pay 10,000 to each WAFL G7 club.
They would broadcast all WAFL games and finals.
etc...

They were frozen out of negoiations as the WAFC had made their mind up about 7!!

And lets not forget this...The WAFC stealing a sponser off CLA and EF..

WTF B) Yeh sure the WAFC SUPPORTS THE WAFL - NOT!

You are dead right Cardy. Also McHenry stated when he was brought in to sort their mess out that WEST PERTH HAS NOTHING WRONG.
