Many don't like the idea, but I am still sure the WACA will host games in the future. There is no doubt Subi Oval wont be adequate for the WAFL as its too big, and the WACA is a likeable 20,000 capacity with the best lights in the country. And the WACA themselves need something else regular there to be viable. They cant sustain things for the future as they are today. The ground size is an issue for some people, but I think theyd still work it. There will be changes you can bet on it, especially with a commercial broadcaster looking for an edge. And they hold all the aces and they know it. If they request something along these lines, you can bet that word "request" can be substituted with "demand".

If it happens, it happens. I think we will still survive. Its just a case of old hard heads releasing their grips a little. Many of us old school codgers are like cranky dogs with bones. I don't think we have much clout these days so if we have to sacrifice a few loved and traditional routines to get a TV coverage, then we need to accept it. Not saying I want it, but I am saying get ready for it. Something along these lines will happen eventually. Its inevitable.

There will be no atmosphere there even if they get 5000 people. If they played the same game at Leederville it would be a different experience for both the crowd and the TV viewer. The West Coast V Indigenous All stars game is a case in point. It leaves me to wonder if channel 7's motivation is in all this is just to build up its AFL TV audience rather that encourage people to go to the WAFL. Yes I know any promotion is better than none and I really hope that the interest created is demonstrated by increased crowds as the season goes on.

I agree any promotion these days is good. But I don't understand why have the first televised game at SubiacoOval. there will be 40,000 empty seats and that is a very negative look for the WAFL. I don't see the point of it or the value other than to add another image chink. Why cant the powers in charge who organise these things see it ? But we live with it these days.

If they are going to do it, why not just make it a one off day with a double header and televise the second game. At least they would double the crowd and maybe attract a few extras. Create some kind of atmosphere in that concrete jungle.

Sorry Jardine the vast majority of those who would watched the first gamee would leave after the first game as evidenced by the majority who left after the colts and ressies' GF last year.

Why on earth are they playing at Subi? Any clues?

Perhaps it would be easy to explain the theory of relativity and chaos theory than to explain the machinations of the WAFC. But we all know that every decision the WAFC makes is the best and most appropriate for the WAFL competition. One would be hard pressed to think of a single decision made by the WAFC in the context of the WAFL competition which was detrimental to the WAFL competition.

They are promoting the thing that you can have a kick of the footy on the hallowed turf after the game or maybe during breaks in play too I'm not sure, that's the only reason I can see in having the game at subi I can see. Perhaps the Eagles want their players having match practise on their ground?
Should be at Leederville or East freo, will not be a good look having a few thousand there.

Hopefully all WAFL supporters not just EF and EP get behind this game. I think its great they are trying something new. Next year different teams will open the year and again all WAFL supporters should get the season started in style.
This time last year rd 1 started without a whimper.
Get involved or stay home and keep complaining, the latter hasnt worked so far.

It is also the last game if rnd1. Go figure. Should have been Friday night
