If they aren't using up their full salary cap now, then they're ahead of the game if it is reduced.

Would have thought Paul Bevan would have been on a bit.

There could not possibly be another governing sporting body in the world quite like the WAFC ..... there's 2 rival competition clubs selling out venues each week , boasting riches that should be feeding back into what they've decimated easily and non-invasively

Yet somehow a 125 plus year foundation league has been left totally neglected to the point where this same governing body now needs to "eat" it's own to survive via $50K grabs & pinching draft pennies

Where is there another board that has so many ex-players from one club (add another sycophant in Dorrington) in it's ranks

Geez it's so bad it's like one of those old Pommie comedy movies with Eric Sykes & his mates ..... :( fark me dead !!!

Clubs should stop bitching about hand-outs and go get revenue to help the club. Swans are working on some redevelopment (shops hotel) of Steel Blue which will be a good money earner in the years to come and Subi have their oval deal.

This is not the 80's anymore clubs have to get off their ass to survive.

Yes you completely right about clubs going out and seeking more support but that is just what Leyland did with the P76. The first step is to look at the product and develop it to be what the public want now not what it was and will support and then the sponsors will follow.

As for the Subiaco situation they are the only club that is not supported by their sponsorships alone, their oval deal as it stands now has been and still is a disgrace to the rest of the competition. They use it well and some may say good luck to them but if ahg ever walk away from the WAFL then an awful lot of clubs and especially what was EP will be in potty load of trouble.

As for Dorrington et al the WAFC needs to back to a business model it can afford and they need to remember no WAFL no WAFC
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

In many ways I agree with Turtle, the myopic attitude of some here that think the comp is still where it was 30 years ago and that there is this ground swell of public support out there just waiting to burst onto the scene and restore the "good old days" is totally farkin bonkers...that is never going to happen now.

As turtle says - if the clubs dont grasp the nettle, reform , change and find their own way forward they will not survive, the generation that knew the glory days will not be around for to much longer, in some ways that might be a good thing as they are holding the whole edifice back from urgently needed reform.

Why don't the "muppets" at WAFC or the boards at the WAFL clubs organise a lottery similar to the MS Lottery? Surely with their members, sponsors & business contacts they could have a house as first prize or $$$. Use the money from that to pay for the TV coverage and get a 4th radio station to cover games. Might even be able to cover Doro's wage.

If the powerbrokers had the same bloody passion and intellect as the posters on here this discussion would be null and void.

One wonders what their roles were. A/man how is the WAFL naming rights sponsor going for 2015?

The footyworld gravy train is a wonderous thing, have you ever seen the bunch of old hangers on in the WAFC boxes at subi during AFL games, its incredible, every former administrator and freeloading commisioner going back years, free entry, throwing back the free boutique grog...bloody scandalous.

if they wanted to save a quid they could start right there by cutting the umbilcal cord from that bunch of sponges.

Swan - what do you know about the WAFL naming rights? theres a rumour Mcdonalds are keen.

Not aware of any prospects Bazza. My comment was in the context that A/man suggested that they had been negotiating for some time to get a new sponsor after I suggested how incompetent I thought the WAFC were. I think my comments have been 100% vindicated.
