Also if someone who didn't do pre season with the league or colts squad starts the year in good form are they ignored by Swans or do the get an invite to training?

Swans dont let any kid play at any level if they are not picked in their colts team, therefore their local team is not impacted.

Swans have also in their history never invited a player from any competition to train or play with Swans from outside their league/reserves squad.

they have also never lost a player from their league/reserves/colts squad to another WAFL club, country or metro club after a season has started..

what about Subi Ron/Bruce ?

Never invited a player from any competition to train or play with Swans outside their league/reserves squad? Kyle Hams doesn't count? Didn't do pre season with you guys, signed in April?

For the record I bloody well hope Subi are doing it. Would be extremely negligent of us not to look at good players in our zone.

Is not the rookie list what this is for!

Two problems vis a vis Hams Barney. Firstly, April is not the middle of the season. Secondly, Hams wasn't recruited to top up our reserves' team. Try again.

Come end of the day if a player gets an opportunity to "better" themselves by playing at a higher level, no matter what level that may be, isnt that a good thing surely? Cant believe any SD fan would be pissed if Blakely got a chance to show his wares on a bigger stage.......even if it was mid year........as SD have shown many a time this year, when one door closes another one opens.........as long as the club gets decent monetary compensation than whats the problem? ?..

I reckon the way to do this to appease all parties is to allow them to top up their list from their own affiliate sides.

For example, WCE could top up with Johnson, Payne, Lee etc from EP

Eagles made such a fuss about wanting players to know and play with the same game plan each week so surely they would only want to top up with players who already know the game plan

good idea ben...if WART and FART can add excess players from West Coast and Freo lists each week, then they should be able to draw from non-aligned players in the same team if needs be.

A little selfish I think to be honest, as long as compensation is given perhaps the full amount up front It's a great idea. A spot on any AFL list is very precious plenty of great players never have that chance. You must look at it from a players perspective they would jump at it.

Would virtually guarantee East Perth a premiership if they (WCE) could draft the top players in their nearest rivals mid-season.
Like the idea of them using the rookie list (isnt what its for!!) and their affiliate club to do any top ups, but dont shit on the WAFL competition anymore than you've done already!!!
