Chaddy: Your not paying attention old boy; no where did I suggest that the Eagles had only moved players to EP, especially in the early days. I was just pointing out how EP had benefitted from them stealing a Claremont player -- the Eagles stole not EP; the fact that the Eagles have also stolen players from one club and given them to other clubs, as well as EP, is well known and of no importance. Don't be so touchy. I want to see a proper EP side, one which does not have Eagles players conscripted to play for you. I am sure Brennan, who, started with EF, and whose father played for the club, would much rather play for the sharks? I mean it is not as if he went out and thought to himself: 'I want to play for EP' and willing signed a contract with club. I want to see a proper EP club, one capable of surviving on its on terms, and not at the whim of others. My argument is with the EP board, not you

My arguement is with the g7's boards.both afl clubs wanted to have stand alone teams.Once they couldn't get that went back to the alignment model. One way to get rid of it is for all g7 members to lobby their boards to let wce and dockers have stand alone clubs. The alignment/host model is nearly a dinosaur in other states and going back to what we had ain't gonna happen in my opinion.

I agree with you there Chaddy, stand alone teams make far more sense than this arrangement, particularly if those Eagles and Dockers teams just compete for the minor premiership and not participate in the finals, thus leaving the premiership to be won by a legitimate WAFL club. Like most people on this forum I want the real East Perth back. As you said I can't see them going back to the pre 2013 model even though that would be the desirable option for most WAFL fans.

My anger is with the WAFC, they made this happen. Dont blame G7.They stuck fat. EP and Peel sadly caved proving there weakness and proabably the reason both clubs have won stuff all in 20 years

Stand-alone teams do not eliminate the basic and fundamental problem of having AFL aligned players being FORCED to play against their original WAFL clubs.

What is "East Perth"'s future when they are abandoned after the Eagles move to Lathlain Park Oval?

chaddy: You need to lobby your board to turn their back on the alignment itself. In the end it does not matter if all nine clubs tried to align with the Eagles, EP got the gig and must act to end the alignment. I can see how letting the two Victorian clubs have their own teams would help EP, but, at the end of the day. I don't want Matt Priddus playing against my club. My preference would be for them to join an AFL Reserves competition

Swans 42: I said above that the future of EP -- indeed of any club -- is in danger if the Eagles stay in the WAFL. They can beg for another five years and hope the Eagles don't take Perth instead. I have already predicted this on the Perth tread of this site. If it does come to pass, EP will have no marriage, no money, no friends amongst the clubs and a bitterly divided support base and a President whom wants an 8 team competition himself.

The silly thing is that if a few people on the Commission would put the Eagles back in their place, or in a reserves competition in Melbourne where they belong, the whole competition will be saved. The WCE are the root cause of the problem, they are the pre-Madonna of WA football.

Saddest thing is that the wrong man has resigned , the other pro-AFL shirtlifters are still in there

Good on him for speaking up

As much as we all want the WAFC Commission to stand up to the devils incarnate they won't because they know that if they did they would be sacked and another group of yes men would be put in their place.

When was the last time that the WAFC Commission stood up for the WAFL and its club in opposition to the devils incarnate?

Unfortunately WAG you are dead right as Atkinson was the only WAFC Commissioner opposed to this alignment crap & now we are left with an all pro EP Eagle mob, and I have no doubt they will work in another EP Eagle sycophant eg Dorrington to replace him!
