Once again master raponi has got himself in the news complaining about EP not releasing players and he wants to be able to start a clearance process on his terms.

Sorry but until the EPFC decide who is a required player and who is not it matters not what the other clubs want! This not an alignment issue it is EP deciding who they want on their list and who is not! If a player is unhappy after that decision and requests a transfer then we have every right to seek recompense for the player.

Now before the alignment issue of players coming from the other clubs to WCE/EP due to the alignment those clubs already get a 'transfer fee' and an ongoing payment for games players (I think that still exists). That amount of money is far and away more than $7K.

As for the player mentioned Blake Borret, he is a junior nation rep in Beach Volleyball, was in the 18's squad a few years ago before be did his knee and only last year got back to where he was before the injury. If EP want him it is because he is a good to vg player, a big body and will develop further. If he wants to leave the sobeit but it will still be on EP's terms not master raponi's.

Yeh totally agree Grump, it's a great system where east Perth and peel get draftees and rookies from other wafl clubs for free and then demand clearance fees for reserves players..you must be living on mars with ditchburn after the tripe he said in today's paper

as I said if you read it . it is not about the alignment it is about EP players, it craps me off no end that players blake won't play for my club EPI will always maintain that we should only release players after EP decides on what EP wants and then and only then we let players go after they and the club don't reach an agreement.

East Perth don't exist, if they did they would be paying for the players from other wafl clubs they just picked up. Since they didn't pay for them they have removed themselves from having any logical right to demand anything from the 7 wafl clubs

Really funny article. Raponi complaining about paying $7k for a reserves player while West Perth have put $30k on one of their own reserves players.

This guy gets so many stories about the WAFL in the media yet he is always negative about the competition. Imagine if he actually talked up the comp a bit, maybe there would be an increase in interest instead of the alarming decline.

Grump, understand what you are saying but East Perth seem to do whatever they like first and then think about the consequences on players, others and the competition afterwards.

I remember having a chat with Blake Borrett at a game last year and he said he gave up the chance of playing volleyball for Australia so he could play league football for East Perth. As much as a great young man Blake appears to be, I would be extremely surprised if he ever plays league football now. With team balance and all the rest, how can he.

So why should East Perth then stand in the way of Blake if he wants to try somewhere else because of a decision that has simply changed the goal posts. What, just so East Perth have enough Reserves players and can make a buck.

Mark, you are spot on. Ditchburn's comments clearly show just how much of a different planet he and a few others are on.

This is a terrible situation. Like the points system and I am not 100% sure however there should be a maximum transfer fee dollar system in place depending on age, games etc so one club can't simply hold another to ransom with unrealistic transfer fee demands.

And for the WAFL operations manager to say they don't know what the full affects on local players also goes to show the apparent lack of research undertaken. Have they forgotten about previous experiments with South Fremantle, Claremont and East Perth.

Finally, has any East Perth members or supporters noticed on the East Perth official website the effort they are now going to for new or renewed members. There's a survey, a life membership up for grabs for anyone that pays before Dec 1 and a call for former players to become a member. How things change when there is a takeover..

Isn't that just good marketing? I would hope that is the minimum Subiaco is doing every year to attract and renew membership.

A little school yard stuff but at least our players get paid! Would that mean that few if any players from the old EP will go the Swans to player for what be free!


The trouble is for me I would always want then to go the Swans or SF but can't do anything abt my choices, I follow the Old EP!

Half your league team or more are playing for free as the eagles are paying them so once again your points are illogical. The fact you would rather kids played reserves or go to the Ammos or country than play league footy indicates you are from mars

That was my thoughts as well SC30.. Couldnt believe it when i read that the commission ops manager didnt know what affect it would have on the WAFL. No was to run a business.
This is the worrying part of this whole alignment.
It was done on the run with no thought put into it.
They are making up the rules as problems arise.
Unfortunately EP and Peel want everything there own way.
Also Grump i think you will find Swan has gone to SF for work purposes and not to play.
I got told that he was promised the gig at EP but that all changed when the Eagles took over. He was not very happy. Good luck to him.
