Grump & Barney. If you have ever spoken to Brett Raponi in person i doubt you would be bagging him on this site as you currently are. He is a obviously very proud & passionate about his own club West Perth,but make no mistake is just as passonate about the WAFL competition & its survival. The media approach him because he is available & will give them an honest & forthright answer to their questions....would have been nice if a couple of WAFL Presidents had have shown the same honesty to their members & the other WAFL clubs before selling them out!! Disagree with his opinion...not a problem that is your perogative...but go & have a chat to the man one day about WAFL footy...then see if you change your outlook!!!

Sorry but until the EPFC decide who is a required player and who is not it matters not what the other clubs want! This not an alignment issue it is EP deciding who they want on their list and who is not! If a player is unhappy after that decision and requests a transfer then we have every right to seek recompense for the player.

Now before the alignment issue of players coming from the other clubs to WCE/EP due to the alignment those clubs already get a 'transfer fee' and an ongoing payment for games players (I think that still exists). That amount of money is far and away more than $7K.

As for the player mentioned Blake Borret, he is a junior nation rep in Beach Volleyball, was in the 18's squad a few years ago before be did his knee and only last year got back to where he was before the injury. If EP want him it is because he is a good to vg player, a big body and will develop further. If he wants to leave the sobeit but it will still be on EP's terms not master raponi's.

Unfortunately grump, it's no longer what EP want for EP. It's what your masters feel is right for themselves. Very sad for the EP faithful members, but also very true.

Sorry to correct you again Barney but raponi was talking about transfer fees in relation to peel and east Perth, that is what the topic is about

I don't know Raponi so would not be to scathing but he seems to operate on the basis that he is fighting for good against evil. It is a game after all not life and death. I am anti the alignment but I agree a player from Swans playing for East Perth should trigger a payment on top of the fifty thousand or whatever the club receive for a draftee.

Royal2019 do you think it's fair East Perth have a player list of 40, like all the so called G7 clubs, plus, the 15 or so AFL listed players each week? The "rookie" listed players don't see any $$$ go to their club of origin. That's what pisses me off, East Perth will have the services of a quality colts player from Claremont for nothing, he won't play AFL as he's rookie listed.
What Raponi was saying is that East Perth & Peel are in a "unique" position in that they have potentially a list of 55 with a slightly reduced salary cap (note the 15 or so AFL listed and rookies are exempt from which makes the $60,000 reduction farcial)and are being recalcitant in standing in the way of players who won't/don't have a chance of realistically playing league at your club.

Well said VF, very nice bloke and makes himself available and forthright with his views and he gives more to WAFL footy than the other Presidents, thats why some (opposition supporters) on here dont like him. Im just a supporter of the club and know him reasonably well by chatting on match days for many years. Yesterday, he popped down to my cricket game @ Joondalup to have a look and a quick chat, very nice of him I thought !
