Letter to members from Brett Raponi. It appears the club presidents have conceded that the Alignment will go ahead and are trying to improve the position of the other 7 Clubs. In fairness to the Clubs they were really up against it with the WAFC holding the licences of the WAFL clubs an AFL clubs.
It stinks and I am sure the WAFC will rue the day they were bulldozed by the AFL into making this decision as the final Decision was WITH THEM. They will move on and the WAFL will rot because of them. May they rot in Hell.

How they can say quote The Western Australian Football Commission (WAFC) has decided that a host club / club alignment for the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Football Club would serve WA football best. UNQUOTE
HOW IS THIS GOING TO SERVE WA FOOTY BEST????

Letter to Members WPFC

Posted on 18/11/2012

As you would have heard or read, the Western Australian Football Commission (WAFC) has decided that a host club / club alignment for the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Football Club would serve WA football best.

Whist this is not the belief of the West Perth Football Club (and in fact the other six non-aligned WAFL clubs) there seems little we can do to reverse this decision.

It is important to note that WAFC do have the power to prevent such a move because they own the licenses of all nine WAFL Clubs and our two AFL Clubs.

Whilst not wishing to labor details on how the decision has come about, the WPFC feels compelled to advise all our members of the current position and what we need to achieve going forward.

In the past two weeks there have been a number of meetings between the WAFC, Club Presiden'ts, Chief Executive Officer's and Football Manager's of the seven non-aligned clubs. These meeting have been used to clarify facts and establish a united position.

It is our common belief that the WAFC has severely undercompensated the seven non-aligned clubs and not considered the intangible advantages that the two aligned clubs will inherit. There has been a glaring lack of detail from the WAFC hence the concern from the seven non-aligned WAFL Clubs.

As of Friday 16th November a list of mandatory concerns has now been established and a subcommittee formed to present and negotiate a fairer outcome for the non-aligned clubs whilst trying to preserve the integrity of the WAFL.

A subcommittee comprising of: Haydn Raitt (SFFC President), Brett Raponi (WPFC President), Vince Pendal (PFC President), Adam Kelly (EFFC Chief Executive Officer), Todd Shimmon (CFC Chierf Executive Officer), Peter Capes (SFC Chief Executive Officer) and Phil Smart (SDFC Football Manager) has been formed and will meet with the WAFC on Wednesday 21st November to present a detailed but simple document.

The mandatory points of concern are principally centered on competition rules (including talent pathways, player transfer, salary caps etc) and finance (rookie payments, funding to WAFL Clubs).

The West Perth Football Club and the other six non-aligned clubs remain committed to working through the issues with the WAFC to ensure that the very best outcomes can be achieved for our WAFL Clubs. It is imperative that the integrity of the WAFL remain intact for many years to come.

Brett Raponi

Peel recruited the Swans guys whilst negotiating the deal with the Dockers/WAFC, not sure if you live in a cave but myself like the people associated with the 7 real WAFL clubs wanted a freeze put on all recruiting between WAFL clubs until the host club situation has been finalised.

This Aligned clubs "agreement" makes me angrier as each day goes by.
It is a one sided agreement. The WAFL is looking after the AFL as a feeder comp yet the AFL doesnt give a damm about the WAFL. The AFL is not supporting the Feeder clubs which provided the cattle for THEIR comp!
The WAFL clubs breed these players and get them up to a standard for the Draft and selection but once done these players have to play for EP or Peel.
How is that fair. Ok great for the Dockers and Eagles but certainly doesnt give the WAFL clubs anything to promote and improve their chances on any given day.

I am sure the home bred players who have been bought up by their WAFL club would be very unhappy to pull on an EP or Peel jumper but due to the circumstances would be ill advised to complain.

And how would u know that or be able to assume that a player, any player , would not want to play with the best players available.

Yes the C graders and perhaps some b- players will fall out the bottom but most players want to play in the best team available to them.

The best team may not be the winningest team may be the most talented, the best facilities and so on!

I KNOW, from first hand knowledge, that the colts players are excited by the prospect of developing in a process that will see them play with AFL rookies and 2 and third tier players, the test is a driving motivation. I also KNOW that most of the colts players from last year are also looking forward to it and thei new coach.

Assumptions and opinions based on crap are useless and not worth putting forward, FIND OUT FIRST and then say something useful!

You are right Cardy. AFL clubs are only interested in themselves and nothing more

Maybe your colts are excited at mixing and training with AFL team members, but what about your league and seconds? They're happy to be moving on for more opportunities are they? Wonderful culture they have....sacrifice themselves for the AFL boys....congrats on building a club where all will feel that they are wanted and loved....not
