The big winners today were the Sharks who got the 4 points and a massive percentage boost. If they beat Perth next week, they may well find themselves in 3rd spot by next Saturday night as Swans have a bye and East Perth have a tough one at Claremont. The other grinners tonight would undoubtedly be West Perth who have taken a massive step towards that 2nd spot. They should beat Peel next week and then it will be a long haul for either East Perth (who also have a poor percentage), Swans or Perth to grab the double chance from them

As for 3rd and 4th spot, the picture is no clearer than it was last week. The 6 critical games coming up over the next 5 weeks are
East Freo v Perth next week
Perth V West Perth
East Perth V Perth
West Perth V East Freo
Swans V East Freo
Swans V West Perth

Also the 4 teams who are in the hunt for 2 spots in the final four (assuming West Perth are now in) will all play Claremont before the finals, so a win by any of them against the Tigers will be priceless.

This promises to be one of the most exciting ends to a season for many years. The wildcard I reckon are the Sharks who have gained significant momentum over the last month on the back of their Foxtel cup success. If they can sneak into the finals they could do some damage.

Yes I agree mikeh. East Fremantle (currently 1 game outside the top four) have the same % as West Perth who are in second spot. What a HUGE game the East Fremantle and Perth match will be! Swan Districts and Perth are the same points but The Swans have the better percentage. At this time of the season, having a good percentage being a real bonus. But Swan Districts have the bye coming up. As discussed previously some massive games to be played in the last few rounds.
Bit of excitement for the last year of the Wafl.

naaagh.....the big game for EF is the Foxtel cup I reckon......all EF have done is beat Subi x 2 and SF.......both teams sitting underneath it.......EF have only beaten one side above them all year.....Perth.....and that was with the last kick of the game.....yeah one could say EF have lost to Cl & EP by only 3 pts and WP & SD by only 2 goals....but hey to be the best, you need to be able to win those games......

people seem to forget EF needs to beat all the current teams in the top four right now....JUST to make the 1st semi....WHERE then they have to win again to make the prelim.....THEN win again to make the GF.....THEN win again to win the flag!!.....7 wins on the trot against top 4 sides when they have only won one all year against a top four side....don't fancy EF chances TBH.......rather the 100k from the Foxtel please!!......to me that seems are far more realistic proposition!

It would be good to see Travis Tuck have another blinder in the Foxtel Cup GF at AAMI Stadium.

LOL considering I am a Westies fan as well A&B I totally agree with you mate.....though West Adelaide are gonna need more than a blinder from Travis don't you think?.....anyway hopefully Travis performs against EF best midfielder and not one of their lesser ones....we all know how you hate so called good players getting the plaudits against lesser opposition players?

I agree, the Foxtel cup could be the best thing that's happened to the club for some time. $100k would be fantastic and it's another cup in the trophy cabinet. Having said that, there'll probably be the odd one here that tells me it means nothing  As for the WAFL finals - yeah, it'll be hard to make it from here, but live to hope!!

Will be interesting to see what Malaxos does this week as there are probably a number of players who won't be able to get through the Foxtel cup final on Tuesday week, 3 days after playing a tough WAFL game. Will he play a weaker team on Saturday in order to get the best team on the park in Adelaide, knowing that defeat to Perth would end the Sharks finals hopes? A bit of a conundrum for him. $100,000 would be handy for the club

Well today's results probably muddied the water even more! The good news is there are 6 teams still very much alive in 2013. West Perth are now odds on to retain 2nd spot, they probably need just one more win out of their last three to book their spot against Claremont in the 2nd semi. 3rd and 4th spot however is now very interesting.

East Fremantle have jumped from 6th to 3rd, but they have the bye next week and then a testing 3 weeks of games against West Perth, Swans and Claremont. To be certain of making it, they would need to win all three of these, so that is a tough contract.

Swans would have enjoyed the results today because it enabled them to stay in the four. After Peel next week, they play Claremont, East Fremantle and West Perth, crucially the last two are at home. I think at this stage they would be favoured to finish 4th but all that could change with an upset result or two

Perth are making it tough for themselves, they really need to beat West Perth at Moora next week to realistically stay in the race, because they have games against East Perth and Claremont before finishing against the dangerous South Fremantle. So if they lose next week they will be relying on other results.

East Perth are currently 6th, but have got the easiest run of the lot with 2 games against Subiaco, who appear to have put their cue in the rack, as well as South Fremantle and Perth. They will start favourites in all these games and if they win them all, will finish 3rd.
