Totally agree. 
As much as I dislike East, they have been great rivals for us and many many classic derbies have been played.
I was doing some research for my site and came across an article as to how the Fremantle derby came to be.
It was from a sports journalist writing for a paper that referred to one game,S V E, as the Derby.
Would take a lot of convincing for me to accept any other game named a derby to be better than the Fremantle rivalry.

I tried to paste a copy of the article I spoke about but it didn't work. So I will write it as it is in the "Southerners Foreeevr More"

When exactly did East Fremantle-South Fremantle matches become known as Derbies?
Little Mark in the Daily News, was the first to use the expression in print,
in his Fremantle notes on May 21 1915.Others picked it up. Centre in the Midland Junction news paper the Swan Express reported that the drawn match played Fremantle Oval on August 21, 1915, had been aptly termed The Fremantle Derby.
Possibly the term was pub talk before it appeared in print, but it couldnt have been in circulation for long.
The name Derby comes from Englands most famoushorse race, and although this was started by the Earl of Derby in 1780, it wasn't until early  in the in the 20th century that that a sporting contest in England between two teams from the same district became "a Local Derby".
In October 1914, the London  Daily Expresshad referred to the local Derby  between Liverpool and Everton, coincidentally between (then) Red , White and Blue and White soccer teams,
Little Mark also used horse racing anology just seven months later.
The full quote from an un-named South Fremantle playerwas..."It is Derby Day for us tomorrow,and Cup Day the following Saturday" Meaning that South Fremantle were playing East Fremantle the following day and top side Subiaco a week later.though his was chronology a week out.

So there it is. Now, do we say DERBY As in kerb or herb

Pre Eagles no Strongbow,post Eagles in a decimated WAFL competition,where WP relocated to Joondalup the Perth Derby crowds have dropped off,but we’re talking about crowds in the WAFL heyday and there were 4, 20000+ Perth Derbies as opposed to 3 20000+ fishmongers Derbies.2 of which were in 1979.

I guess RL, the only thing we will agree on this derby topic mate, is that East must win....I wonder what the win loss stats are for East beating their opponent in the derby?

.Fremantle DerbyTo the end of the 2023 season the two clubs had met 389 times with South Fremantle winning 186 to East Fremantle's 199 wins, 4 Draws have occurred between the two sides.

Actually Freez,I’m probably rehashing an old topic,but would any doggy supporter disagree with me when I say that Brownie underachieved with the list he had at Bulldog land.How did a list containing Rioli,Michael,Carter,Vigona,McKay,Hardie,Barrett,Morley etc only win 1 flag??

Yes, with that sort of list, you have expected a few more flags.

 

I think Ken Armstrong’s Perth Demons were the best example of the adage “a champion team will always beat a team of champions”sure they had Wiley who was a champ,Bosustow was a freak on his day,but the rest of the side were an even lot,but South had star power everywhere but they never really fulfilled the lofty expectations of fans and pundits alike.

it is pronounced as it is spelt in the wording - Derby 

there is belief it originated from Australian slang in the very early beginning of the 20th century in Fremantle itself

Darby is in both the UK for the township there and in the USA for their horse race

Don’t forget the Mexicans over east Southy, they call it a Darby.
