It will happen before 2030, there will be a national AFL reserves comp and every club will have 70+ players on their list and then supplementary list to draw from for injuries.

Change is inevitable gents, no matter which way you want to look at it.

If the AFL can throw as much money as they do each year at AFLW this is only a drop in the ocean, and it will create more coaching and jobs in the AFL system for the old boys club.

Why would the WAFL face an uncertain future if WCE piss off out of the comp? They'll still be paying their dividend to the WAFC who could and should decide to up the amount given they own the license. But then again we are talking about the WAFC which will probably roll over with its legs in the air waiting to be shafted by WCE.
Spot on BC, the WAFC will have to eventually stand up and negotiate top dollar for the licences. The stake holders will demand this, it will definitely spell the end of any AFL involvement in the WAFL so it better be a good figure. It astounds me how they have let the AFL dictate to the extent they have, the SANFL have been sticking their tits out for decades !

Only initially Baz, yes the AFL would be forced to allow WC and Fremantle to increase their lists but once they are established they then should be keeping the ones they delist from the AFL list to play for their reserves and continue to develop them instead of discarding them like they usually do.

In other words act like a traditional WAFL club.
You are forgetting how many quality WAFL players will head off and play for other Reserve teams around the country, and also how many will not flow back to WAFL ,, you are also forgetting how much much money will be cut from WAFL budgets after the alignment money gets cut off , that's a huge hit, on top of that if the WAFC decided to keep Peel going they would end up having to divert funds into them cutting funding even more.

Much smaller football budgets and salary caps would mean even fewer players hanging around for smaller pay.

And what about media coverage - how would they afford the 1 million to cover that?

With the cost of everything going through the roof, clubs would battle to get sponsors.

Financially I couldn't see the comp surviving in its current form.

They will revert to paying the base dividend, clubs will lose the extra negotiated for the entry of the wce and peel alignment deal.

I’m a lot more glass half full about it mate. I understand as you say the extra Freo and WC are paying for their players to play in the WAFL will be lost but surely disenchanted fans will return and better support a level playing field which we haven’t seen for decades especially now Subi have dropped back in the pack so to speak not able to be as bullish with the cheque book as they once were.

Clubs will be forced to be more stringent and calculated with their spending budgets and anyone who doesn’t like WP were a couple of years ago may not be so lucky and get bailed out. I still think the WAFL can not only survive but thrive. Fuck Channel 7 if they don’t want to cover it I reckon the AFL clubs will still want the AFL to stream the WAFL so they can keep an eye on the talent but WAFL clubs should be demanding the mid season draft be excluding the WAFL.

the VFL only wants players under 22 or 23
they only care about mature agers in exceptional circumstances & there's evidence it's only been about 10 players in that bracket who have managed to get anywhere in the past 10 years
there has been no safety net provided by the VFL to date and there is no evidence that there ever will be in the future - they have never demonstrated that they will support lower tiers unless it's under 18 national draft week
in summary it is time that state leagues dug in , the time is ripe now that Tasmania is on the horizon

unless of course you are Victorian and believe that Eggs lay full grown chickens

An enourmous amount of water will pass under the bridge. Before we get an AFL ressies comp.Massive logistal problems ,will have to be sorted.
Adding 30 players to an Afl list/ At least a $1,500,000 increase to the salary cap.
Will there be a pay tv sponsors. If not it wont happen.
Will the teams be based in Victoria. To reduce travel expenses. It could be a Vfl expansion.
Cant see the Wafl and Sanfl surviving this
Player paynent could by 3 times higher than the Wafl
Total Vic take over of  Australian rules.Been on the wall for decades now

Best news ever. I'm of the view the WAFC should sell the two WA licences to the AFL for $200m, that becomes the capital base for a stand-alone WAFL comp, disband the treacherous WAFC and delink from the AFL. Problem solvered.

Don't fall for Meth Coke sycophant Duffield's catastrophising. He licks Nisbett's arse. A lot more good would come from delinking from the AFL than staying under the yoke of filth like Meth Coke and the AFL-suckholes at the WAFC.

I've been saying we should sell the licenses and go our own way for ages.

They will be financially stringent alright, they will be basically amateur probably the future would lie in a merger between th Perth Football Lague and WAFL.
