I have just been having a look through the AFL named teams and I noticed that Sam Fisher has been named as an emergency for the West Coast Eagles for their game tomorrow. Firstly it is news to me that Sam is on the supplementary list.

Secondly if Swans had been playing today that would have meant that Sam would have had to withdraw from the game and we would have lost one of our most influential players just on the very faint chance that he might get an AFL game. The same thing happened to the two Claremont guys and the East Perth player last week, dragged over to Brisbane to sit on the bench. You could argue that the absence of these players had an impact on the results of the WAFL games given the closeness of the scores. Florenca was withdrawn from the South Fremantle team, at least he played a game but in his absence the Doggies lost a critical game by 8 points.

I know the Eagles are going through unprecedented times at the moment but there's got to be a better way to organise things other than whats happening at the moment. Whats the answer here? They really should be drawing players who run out for their reserves team IMO but then of course if they do this, they are unable to field a team in the WAFL which is what happened last week. The whole situation is destroying the integrity of our competition.

What integrity is that mikeh?
Sadly, the Wafl has no integrity anymore!
That got thrown out the window years ago. Fast forward to current nowadays and the competition is simply a shadow of it's former self.
Gives one no satisfaction in saying...

Precisely,Schumacher has been taken 3 times as an emergency on this supplementary list B.S.escapade,and has yet to run out on the field, and i have no doubt[even though we should have won anyway] his withdrawal from our side definitely influenced the outcome of the match.

Agree 100% Mike and Todd Curley said as much last week. I know it's only conjecture, but in my mind I have no doubt EP would have beaten Subi if Angus Schumacher wasn't sitting in the grandstand in Brisbane last week. He may have hurt himself in the first minute of our game who knows? But on the balance of probability he would have made a difference in a one point result. All of which makes propping up WCE with WAFL players all the more problematic.

Or alternatively B.C. i wouldn't have minded if they took Schumacher as a spectator with GIRO, who was the best midfielder on the ground last week.

It was only 1 player for Claremont Mike in Mountford who was the sub and came on in the last qtr last week but yes I get your point.
And the really galling thing for all of us in WAFL land is this latest covid outburst at the WCE was all self inflicted from 7 players (probably more) all going out to a nightclub right in the midst of our record WA covid numbers and when their club is already squealing daily to the media about having numbers down due to injury and h&s protocols.
Why they are able to use WAFL top ups when most are injury related anyway I will never know, but their own stupidity in this case should have resulted in them picking their own players either listed or on their WAFL list especially when their own listed players in Dixon, Bazzo, Trew & Williams didnt even play but were all fit too!
That joint needs a cleanout from the very top to the very bottom where they incidentally currently sit on the ladder!

Its a joke, they should use players from their own actual list as emergencies

To be honest RL, I'd sooner see both players on the ground representing their WAFL sides as having your best player sitting out isn't good for them or the standard of the comp.

I thought that Logan Young also went to Brisbane BH. He didn't get a look in but he still was an out for Claremont.

Logan Young did travel with the WCE team last week Mike, but he is a WCE WAFL listed player now and is not at Claremont and hasnt been for some time as he tried out in vain in the aborted VFL seasons before this year!
