Spot on RL, I remember the odd game back in my junior days playing in the EP zone, loaning players to the likes of Coolbinia and Noranda when they were perennial struggles in the late 70s and early 80s, just to get the match played......definitely embarrassing for all concerned.....especially those 2 EF boys.
What the Eagles don't understand Freezin,is having their fringe players teaming with a hotch potch of amateurs, trying to follow the same club ''game plan''does nothing to enhance their premiership prospects When i refer back to the 2000/2001 interstate alignment, i think only Josh Wooden went on to have a meaningful AFL career, and he was a battler at best, and the Munro's and Antonowiczs and c.o. ended up in the football wilderness, and as far as the 2014/18 full alignment is concerned,McGovern played a couple of games, Barrass and Sheed played a season or 2 in the WAFL ,while the rest of the squad in that 5 year period were for the most part, delisted and turned over.                                                                                                                                       The genuine AFL talent generally find their feet fairly quickly, and barely play 2nd tier football,so going back to the old system of distributing the fringe players evenly across the whole competition, will not in any way diminish their future premiership prospects, and in turn maybe hopefully restore some sanity back to the WAFL competition.

makes an absolute mockery of our competition. This game will be worth 8 points to East Fremantle with the percentage boost they get and who knows in a few weeks the Eagles may be a more competitive outfit by the time they play East Perth and Swans.
Nothing against the Sharks, good luck to them for taking advantage of the situation. The WAFC are the villians here

And thats exactly what happened to EF last year. Won the first time by 20 goals (just like this year), then played a much stronger eagles team second time around and got flogged by 9 goals. Its a joke and just is not right!!

Last season, Subi were the dominant team for most of the year, but came up against an AFL loaded WCER team lead by an outstanding Luke Shuey and beat us in a close game at Leederville, which shows than no matter how strong a WAFL team, if they come up against a WCER team with quality injured players coming back, it will be a real battle.

Good luck to EF, I don't mind them taking advantage of a pathetically weak WCER given the fact they lost those quality players in the pre-season to the so called "Train on" programme, but it really must go back to the old format of distribution amongst the 8 WAFL teams via a reverse draft. The WC leftovers will get good hard footy that can only help their players in the long run. They will only play with their allotted team on game day, the rest of the time they are training at Eagles stadium.
The one negative about the old plan was the interference of WC demanding where a player plays and how many minutes he plays, that needs to be sorted out.

Just following on from what Senior Seagull was saying there are actually 28 out of the 44 man Eagles squad that have ties with a WAFL club, so they could easily drop back to their respective WAFL teams where the guys not picked for their AFL team would be able to play competitive footy every week. The other 16 could be drafted in reverse ladder order from 2021 between 8 teams starting with Perth.  I would assume that Peel would not want to participate in this draft.
In this case you would withdraw the Eagles WAFL team from the competition, null and void the games they have played so far and reduce it to a 9 team competition. Unfortunately that would mean a bye for each team but I think this is preferable to what is happening at the moment.
On the positive side can you imagine the interest created by a Nic Natanui comeback from injury playing a WAFL game at Bassendean or Elliot Yeo at the Sharks or Oscar Allen at West Perth. Would add a few thousand to the crowd I reckon.
Yes a left field idea but desperate times call for desperate measures. Our competition is ailing.
