Whilst my preference is for manual scoreboards, let me say that in terms of providing the scores and time the scoreboard at Lathlain Park Oval on Saturday during the futures' game between Perth and Swans was working as required.

Incorrect 42...that would be the Royalties for Regions programme. Regional for Royalties must be some obscure Labor cash splash.
How droll BC; I was distracted listening to the damning evidence Christine Holgate provided at the Senate hearing.
Yep I saw a bit of that too 42 and was amazed it took Hanson-Young 3 questions before playing the gender card.  I'm not sure why she even wasted her breath with the first 2.

Bazza complains about the lack of a race results panel on the sf scoreboard. Why exactly? Ever heard of s mobile phone. What would you be checking the numbers against mate, the fields in the budget?

What a whinger.

Ps what does putting the ‘F’ into ‘Fresh’ a claim made by a sponsor on your scoreboard actually mean.?? It doesn’t make sense to me.

I don't even follow the races, it was just traditional thing that I liked and a quriky addition,

if you are so obsessed about apps and internet updates, mate every wafl score in on the net, so why bother having scoreboards at all - a bit like Latho - goose.

That Peel scoreboard is impressive DD. I wonder if the Dockers contributed towards the cost?

I doubt it Mike but wouldn’t be surprised if Royalties for Regions money paid for it.

What would the Peel one cost? 50k?
A lot more than that I reckon KC. I’d say well north of 100k including the footings and installation.

The footings? Dig a big hole, chuck some cement in?
You heard of safety and legal liability? Requires structural engineers to work out the specifics required and then tested post installation. They don’t come cheap.  If a scoreboard was to come down and kill or permanently maim someone there would be hell to pay, literally. The footings and installation probably cost about the same if not more than the scoreboard itself.

Mate footings are made of concrete not cement, big difference, DD is right, score boards and similar free standing tall narrow structures require significant engineering design especially for the footings which would be way bigger than most might think, the big issue is wind loads. Anyway, the Rushton scoreboard should be the template for any new electronic scoreboards, the reason they go with elec scoreboards is the ability to display lots of annoying advertising, the old scoreboards would only have one sponsor per season, not showing dozens per game on rotation.

Yep easily gtr and that is why they have to get the location absolutely right. Once they spend that kind of cash it ain't moving anywhere. Where the current broken scoreboard is situated is NOT the right spot, late in the afternoons it is very hard to see from the grandstand side. Ideally it would be where the new outer gate is but either side of that is where I would have it. ideally on the centre side of the outer gate as close to in line with the centre circle as possible.
