Bit of fun and nostalgia using old matches to simulate the 2020 season...

I am going to run a 'simulated' season by randomly selecting a game from historical clashes between the competing sides played at the same venue following the 2020 fixture.

I'll use a random number generator to select the games.

For example: Swans and Subi have played 119 times at Bassendean Oval, the random number spits out 81 - the 81st game between Swans and Subiaco was round 5, 1989 so that will be the match score.

Will be a bit tough for West Coast games, so have decided to use a game played by the team at that their home ground and use that result. So Perth v West Coast game Perth have played 583 times at Lathlain Park, the random number was 181, so that was Perth v West Perth r5, 1976 - match result used West Perth substituted by West Coast.

Each team to play each other twice.

Could be interesting.

Just a question, does the random number generator have a soft spot for Swans?

Let's hope the random number generator doesn't continually spit out numbers v Subi that are high range then...anything in the 90 plus range will see another undefeated Subi WAFL premiership season...numbers corresponding to the periods between 1940 -1972 and 1974 - 1982 for Subi will be nice.....LOL

Perth and EF fans will be seeking early to mid range random numbers me thinks....increase both clubs chances of ending their 40+ and 20+ year premiership droughts respectively....

ps Ric...don't have that number generator of yours continually picking numbers corresponding to those heady 3 peat years in the 60s and 80s for your beloved Black n Whites either.... saying that any random generated numbers corresponding to those pre 1950 years for EF will be looked upon favourably...great idea mate should be a laugh.

Gee that EF vs CL game in 1981 must have been a wet game as that would have been CL's lowest score that season as they regularly kicked 20+ goals a game that year.
EF after a bright start only kicked 1 major after Qtr time.

Yer - i had to double check the season when i saw that result - Claremonts lowest score of the season and only one of three scores below 100 for them in 1981

One of Freeze's Old Easts favourites Mark Norsworthy didnt bring his kicking boots that day either!

Pretty sure BH, not many EF fans will be wanting to relive those games from the early 80s too often...unlike the SD, C and SF fans who watch their clubs kick ridiculously high scores week in and week out back then...

more interested in how many times EF Glen Durnthaler kicked the ball out of bounds in that game BH...quite surprised Norswothy even got a kick let alone it being a point mate....

Surely WP and EF swap ladder positions on their respective % mate.....LOL
