just going off the info on facebook, looks like someone will be going to jail........

WAAFL will come down hard now there is a precedent. I'm guessing the media will get hold of this, pretty sure Maddington was second or third on the list for red/yellow cards.

Regarding the game on the weekend, there is a big difference between off the ball incidents and in play incidents. In play incidents by "snipers" and/or "head hunters" are dealt with by umpires and if deemed outside the rules they will be rewarded with a free kick, yellow card or a red card. I'm not going to go into detail but off the ball incidents like the one on the weekend have no part in our game. The persons who was involved will be dealt with by the WAFL or the higher law. We at Ridge do not tolerate that behaviour as I'm sure pretty much every other club in the league would be the same.

Hopefully the WAAFL can set an example here.
The message isn't getting through, banning Kelmscott for 1 match has failed to set any real deterrent.

No wonder why soccer is the fastest growing junior sport in WA. Acts like this is stopping parents from choosing Aussie Rules as their sport of choice.

Look at Rance's penalty for elbowing someone in the back of the head.

I wish the two players a speedy recovery.

The article said that Maddington were planning to send through a formal complaint about Ocean Ridge.
Did any Maddington players get their jaw broken, teeth knocked out and sent to hospital?

I hope the bloke that broke the player's jaw is shitting himself... The Police will look after their own so expect a full investigation, arrest and prosecution.

Im sure as we have already seen with another one of Phils awesome posts that Maddington will deny all wrong doing here. I really hope the league do something about yet another player being hurt behind play. I have been involved against both these clubs on a number of occasions and never have had an issue with Ocean Ridge. Maddington on the other hand seem to have a few individuals that let the club down. No comment on the league incident but from the colts, their colts coach promotes violence to these young guys and it really shows. I listened in at their huddle a few weeks back, and couldn't believe what I was hearing. Then, what do you know, the next qtr, an all in brawl erupted.

On 6PR this morning it sounded like Ocean Ridge were the instigators all day with head high tackles on Maddington players and with instructions from the coach to physically hurt the opposition, haven't heard anyone from Ocean Ridge call in yet to give their side but it sounded very ugly. This is Cowboy league footy I suppose. And where were the umps in all this?? a few Red cards might have helped
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

Even if there were head high tackles, are you saying that this provides the justification for a cowards punch?

It is never acceptable to throw a cowards punch, never. The guy could have been killed. We have seen it time and time again on our streets.

Ban the club for a year, we don't need this rubbish in our game.

I was about to say the same thing Dreaming said about Maddo's colts coach. Absolute hot head. Wrong bloke we would coaching the youth of this league. I recall something similar happening. Number 8 for their colts is a sniper.

Umpires need to do more. I would rather see a red for something light to deter anything really bad then a guy with a broke jaw unconcious on the ground later on in the game.
