Please clarify what your saying Unholytugboat, The way I read this your stating that Ex Sunday league club don't provide anything for their community because some of them don't have a thirds or a colts side. is that what your saying or did you just not think before you spoke

If that's the case do you want to explain how having a thirds side is better for the community than what clubs like Thornlie, Kenwick, Kelmscott, Maddington, Armadale, Canning, Wanneroo, and every other club that has played Sunday League has done in their local community. I'm sure people in all these communities will agree their club provided for them in all the ways they want

Im awaiting your reply tugboat as are a lot of people from the above clubs

Think you have drawn your own conclusions there PH...

Clubs have a simple choice, do they focus all there energies into their league side or do they have a balance.

How is a 1 team club that will only play you if you have exceptional football skills providing a service to the local community? There is a reason clubs are not for profit etc....

I THINK what Tugboat is getting at is that while yes Kelmscott's league side is full of players with ability and they win more than they lose, is it actually good for the CLUB or local COMMUNITY of Kelmscott as local players with less ability aren't included or focused on.

In my experience I wouldn't have thought it would allow sustained numbers or create a great CLUB environment to have a very successful 1's team and then have your ressies and colts get flogged every week.

I also know for a fact that on more than one occasion this year we have had Kelmscott players drink beer in our club (Armadale) on a Saturday night due to nobody hanging around at John Dunn even after a home game. I'm not saying my club are the best at it but gee I wouldn't have thought that having nobody support the club after a home game would be a good thing for either club or local community.

Mate how is it not good for the community? Kelmscott is one of ONLY, I REPEAT ONLY 10 clubs in WA that can say they have a team playing A Grade. Alot of suburbs strive to achieve that goal Kelmscott has got there. That's got to be good for the local community.

Kelmscott have two sides, league and reserves so im not sure where you made them into a 1 team club, have you asked the people in the Kelmscott community if that set up at their football club is good for their community or not, or have your just decided you don't like them so what ever there doing isn't good for the people in their community?

Still no facts to your last response Tugboat, waiting to see what you say this time. Oh and FYI I have no affiliation to Kelmscott and they are not one of my favourite clubs, however I do respect them as a club due to having to play them over years during the Sunday league

Kelmscott would have to have more locals and more connection to their community than most of the. A Grade clubs . No 1 because the suburb of Kelmscott is massive and it is still a semi country feel around Kelmscott and most people in the area know someone who plays for the club and also because Kelmscott have the best facilities in Amateurs . The College clubs would little or no connection to the local community ,eg Freo CBC based in Kardinya who do they represent ,University what community do they represent , Wesley Curtin the same and West Coast Cowan what does that stand for. Locals wouldn't play for North Freo because it is such a small and expensive suburb and players come from all over Perth to play for them also the same for North a Beach which is a very small suburb. Probably only Kalamunda and Mt Lawley would rival Kelmscott for the amount of locals and connection to the local community because they are large suburbs.

Actually Kelmscott have a colts team too and last year we had a thirds team however after a few boys left for "greener" pastures we had to just stick to the three sides. Next year thirds will be back of that Im sure!

That's the spirit caz, think of all those average ability footballers in the local community that will be able to participate in our great game out your way.
