To be fair King - I think you are being a bit ignorant. Just wanted to poke a few holes in your assessment:

Wesley - Mark Couglan was a Wesley boy. Prety sure that he had mates at the club from a similar vintage such as Jesse Wilson and co. Also McCarrey came back and he had his brother / cousin playing as well.

TA's - other than Ryan Murphy which is the only anomaly, the rest are pretty explainable. I will pick a few for you and have a go:
Q Lynch - clearly is being paid, but he is the coach so not sure what you problem is here. If all A grade clubs could go recruit a Q Lynch, then they should do it.
A Embley - he is a Trinity boy. He is mates with Lynch. He has mates at the club. Sure he might get rewarded if he is best on ground with the $250 or $300 award, but to think he is getting paid is a laugh. Yes he would get more in the bush, but surely a bloke who owns a restaurant or two doesn't need money to play footy now.
M Spencer - brothers played at the club and his mates all play at the club.
D Crawford - his best mate Stuart McGowan plays at the club and he is mates with Aquinas boys down there.
Not sure who else you refer too, but Crossland, Daniher, D Murray, J Birrell, etc have all played for a few years.

North Beach - don't want to go back and go on for ages here, but the Holbrook's, Pearce's, Perkin etc were a pretty tightknit bunch and played for years together to win premierships. I don't think any of them were getting paid other than the weekly award money. I know most blokes who of played their for free and taken the 7, 8 or 9 premierships they won.

North Freo - cant comment on Peake, Hawksley or Monteith, but North Fremantle have always recruited good players on the back of their relationship (and proximity) to East and South Fremantle.

In summary, this may sound strange to you, but some blokes choose to play together for free to play in a winning side. Some blokes cant be bothered going bush and getting cash as it takes up their whole weekend, or in some cases isn't worth the time nor effort.

I think the reason everyone gets on Kelmscott's back is primarily due to the lack of depth in the ressies and colts. This leads everyone to believe that clearly there are blokes playing at your club to prop up the league side. These guys who come to your club for 1 or 2 years are doing it for more than just love. I cant say I know any personally, so I reserve judgement, but the reality is that there have been a number of accusations over a long period of time, and some were proven in 2012 I think. Therefore you are going to have to accept the banter that comes with it. If you weren't connected with the club, then you would surely look at this impartially and realise this in this particular case "where there is smoke there is fire".

For the record, I do believe that all clubs have played a player at some point in time. Particularly back in the early 2000's. I am more of the view these days that since the comp has become stronger there are more and more players who would prefer to play good solid football without having to go bush. Sure they sacrifice money, but if you had a semi decent career going for you, then surely you don't need to rely on a cash from footy and hence you play for free at amateur clubs.

The Wembley player got suspended for refusing to sign a statutory declaration about whether or not he had been paid by Wembley or a third party to play at Wembley. Draw your own conclusions on why a player that wasn't getting paid, wouldn't sign the form to say exactly that...

Well summed up ML! same thing happens at most A grade sides, uni get the uni lads and Claremont boys through Luke Dwyer affiliation. If you have a look at Mount Lawley they have always had a close relationship with swans from the Beros days. I also believe Garth is an ex mount Lawley premiership player and good mates with headland. CBC always have the same fellas that played juniors there coming back after wafl careers finish or not getting a proper crack; people flock to Buzzacott because of the winning culture and this is why always strong through the grades.. The questions will always be there about ALL sides..

An interesting anomaly at T/A's is that even though Q Lynch is named as coach he actually does not coach on game day, it is done by someone else. Draw your own conclusions from that little tit bit of info.

Heard the powers that be have sent an email to all A grade clubs today; is this true? Could shake this comp up once and for all I hear! The Major, that is some very creative accounting if that is actually the case with what was mentioned above.. Surely other clubs have thought about this previously? Others who have played sides with player/coaches what's your thoughts on the issue; have you seen similar things occur...
