1%er are you sure you guys playing in ID Colts play Final 5, WCE Colts are playing a final 6.

Don't know about other colts divisions.

Bundy,

I think youll find WCE Colts has 12 teams in the group as to other leagues only having 10. This is why finals will be differnt

Went and had a look at the Kingsley vs Wanneroo game on the weekend and i must say as a spectacle it wasnt that flash with a lot of skill errors and turnovers from both sides. Kingsley should have been 4 - 5 goals up at 1/2 time except for some poor kicking at goal. Wanneroo seemend more intent on going the man instead of the ball and they gave a way a few unneccesary free kicks that resulted in scoring shots for Kingsley.
All in all i think the better team on the day won the contest especially when Kingsley had 17 scoring shots to 8.

By all reports the Ocean Ridge Vs Thornlie game was close all day with Thornlie Leading most of the day only to see Ocean Ridge hit the front late but to Thornlie's credit they steadied and won the game with a couple of late goals.

Sets up a couple of cracking games this weekend in what looks like will be a pretty ordinary day with strong winds and rain predicted. Kingsway will be refreshed with a full list to choose from and with the game being at Kingsway the big ground i think will suit them well although Kingsley have been on top for most of the year and would be looking at reversing the belting Kingsway gave them earlier in the year.

The other game between Wanneroo and Thornlie will be a really close affair with 1 win each during the year and it should be noted that Thornlie beat Wanneroo at Wanneroo so the ground holds no fear for them.

Both sides will be desperate with it being a knockout final and it could come down to which side is the more disciplined.

Just out of interest i noticed on the weekend that the umpires at the Wanneroo vs Kingsley game appeared to be there normal club umpires who umpired during the season?
I know that the A grade comp still had there final round of fixtures so they may have been stretched but if anyone had any clarification i would appreciate it?

Leggo, As much I am trying to avoid commenting on the Wanneroo v Kingsley game, the umpires were not club umpires. they had been appointed by the league and did control the game very well for 3 quarters until the last quarter they seemed to not let their whistle leave the mouth. but thats enough from me.

Looking forward to a do or die clash next week at the local showgrounds. Wanneroo having all 4 teams at home (I think) therefore the crowd should help with a reward to wanneroo. Would also love to see Kingsway with a win

Cheers Whynot - i only asked as i had a Kingsley supporter sitting near me who made the comments about the umpires being "club" umpires which i though was strange but makes sense now. Also the local Kingsley crowd make for interesting listening with some of there comments quite amusing but a lot of them i thought were a little over the top but i suppose thats what they are renowned for.

The umpires may have been "club umpires" however they would be from another grade and were appointed to that grade.

We are getting close to the Pointy end and we should have a pretty good indication after this weekends games that may be weather affected of who is likely to play off for the big one. Both grounds have seen a fair bt of traffic this year and with plenty of rain this week both you think will be fairly soft underfoot. Also with 35Kmh WNW winds predicted it will favour one end at both grounds as well:

1st semi Final Wanneroo Vs Thornlie

1 win each throughout the regular season (Both teams won away) so Thornlie have no problem playing at the showgrounds and with a number of inclusions last week i give Thornlie a big chance of upsetting Wanneroo and moving onto the Prelim final. Last weeks score flattered Wanneroo who only had 8 scoring shots on goal and have struggled to kick big scores against the other top 5 teams all season so they will need to find some more avanues to goal if they are to win. Interesting that a couple of other posts on this forum have indicated that both sides have fairly significant injuries to key players so that may have an effect as well.

I think Thornlie can overcome the travel and win by 2 goals in what will be a very physical encounter if the regular season games are anything to go by

2nd Semi Final Kingsway vs Kingsley

This promises to be a cracker of a game between the 2 best sides in the ID colts this year. Kingsley held top spot for 17 weeks of the regular season although they dropped away toward the end of the year to allow Kingsway to Grab top spot with a big win in the last round and the weeks break.

The regular season games saw Kingsley win by 3 goals early on in the year and Kingsway win by 8 goals the 2nd time around. The last 2 weeks have seen Kingsley play 2 very tough games in a row against Wanneroo on small grounds whilst Kingsway beat CWP easily and then have a weeks rest which should be advantage this time of year.

I think Kingsway are peaking at the right time of the year whilst Kingsley have appeared to stutter slightly and dont seem to be playing the free flowing brand of footy that they were early on. Kingsway to win by 4 goals although i do think that these 2 teams will meet again in 2 weeks time in the big one.

I think Wanneroo will be dissappointed with the loss last week and come out full of fire. The ground will definately not be in the best shape, but hey just steer clear of the grandtsand wing and the goal squares and you will be sweet. I believe Wanneroo will get a few key Ins this week.

Wanneroo by 4 goals

Kingsley were the best team in the comp for 17 weeks, as you advised. I am going to back them to get back to their best here and knock off Kingsway on their home deck.

Kingsley by 2 goals

Tough conditions at Kingsway on Saturday with a strong breeze favouring one end although neither side really took advantage. The contest was what was expected with tough and hard footy played all day. Kingsway took an 11 point lead into the final break although Kingsley were kicking with the wind and hit the front with about 4 minutes to go. Kingsway had a chance to regain the lead with a set shot from 20 metres out on a slight angle however the player missed. Kingsley then steadied with 2 late goals (the last one wass on the siren) to book a GF berth.

Both sides are fairly even and im sure that Kingsway would love another crack at Kingsley however they can't afford to get to far in front of themselves against a Thornlie side that must be playing good footy having beaten Ocean Ridge and Wanneroo in the last 2 weeks.

Thornlie have beaten Kingsway both times they have played this season although both sides with have vastly different personell than the last time they met so this should be a great contest. Looking forward to heading to the showgrounds to watch this contest that i think Thornlie can win based purely on they seem to be playing a better brand of footy at the moment and have beaten Kingsway twice already this year.
