Rumour tells us that most Clubs are paying. That doesn't make it right. I am sure the PFL knows who is, but there is a huge difference between knowing it and being able to prove it. If there weren't such a difference, all of Perth's largest drug dealers (as an example) would be locked up.

My Club was accused of paying a player (whom they didn't name) earlier this year - we weren't. Rumour (again) has it that two purer than the driven snow Clubs offered that player (and we're only guessing as to who he actually was) more than $400 per game, which, if true, he didn't accept. Rumour doesn't mean it's true - it just gives the PFL somewhere to start looking.

Personally, I am NOT in favour of allowing payments - that would kill many smaller, lower grade Clubs, that simply could not compete.

If they did allow it, I wonder how many Clubs would be putting their hands up to admit they've been doing it for years (and over-paying Coaches too)?

I wonder how many of the (rumoured) little unofficial 'fund raising' sub-committees would officially become a part of their (rumoured) host Clubs?

Birdman,
Spot on (most PFL office bearers) know exactly
Which clubs and which players respectivly clubs are paying (even how much)

It's just a matter of fact for community football atm with the present system and leadership.

What is not acceptable however is 'targeting' a lower grade club that has been the subject of same "said" rumour and innuendo (Which they DID NOT do) just to get a 'notch' on the belt for supposingly making a difference and acting on.

Catching up on this thread has brought a smile to my face!

Obviously when teams are winning their is an issue, especially if the team being beaten is your side.

I can tell you know that if my name was mentioned at all in this thread I would take legal action as these keyboard warriors sit behind their keyboards and make accusations with fictional names. Its called personal Defamation.

Unless you are willing to put your true name to the claim, have proof - then present it to the league and they will act, otherwise shhhh.

For the last 8 years the same allegations get made of different clubs of who is and isn't paying - put your name to it or shut up or provide the evidence.

SBD,
Are you serious?
Yes catching up on this thread brings a smile to my face also.

First off..no worries about launching defamation action, can't see your name possibly coming up as a paid player.
(But hey, keep your fingers crossed)

Second, best of luck to your side that 'are'in one of the C grade final competitions.

Ps...its not one of the lower grades that get targeted.
