What about North Beach . Nic Ried was playing for the Eagles last year . He would of got around $150 grand for the season now playing for nothing.
They also have at least 15-20 players with recent WAFL experience who would get big dollars in the Bush.
15-20 players with recent WAFL experience? How do they fit 15-20 ex-WAFL players worth 3-5 points each into the Player Point Cap of 43 points?

Maybe its time to open this whole pandoras box up and allow clubs to pay players. It puts the onus on clubs to manage how they afford to do this which will mean over tome we will have grades that are probably more even based on what teams can afford to pay. In the current environment there are a number of clubs in each grade that are to good or to bad for the rest they are grouped with so the current format doesnt work.

If clubs fuck it up they go broke.......

Just my 2 cents worth, but this format will stop the questions being unanswered each year when this comes up

Good idea in theory but as in the country leagues, which do legally pay players but have a salary cap, the clubs that can afford it still pay more than they are supposed to under the table so back to square one?

Far North, I would not put a cap on it, Lets open the slather, the clubs then have to make decisions about what they can afford to pay.

Sure this might stop some loyalty as players chase the dollar, they will do that anyway. It puts the ownership of governance squarely back on the clubs.

We have seen many clubs over the years that pay for a few years and then the money tree runs out and they crash and burn.

Clubs have to then make a decision do they create a culture where people want to be there rather than chase money or do buy flags and risk the clubs long term future

Quick look on the PFL app at last rounds Player Points tells a differnt story to whats been said on here

Baldivis 38 points - 1 x 5 point player (Verrier), 1 x 4 point player (Johnson), 1 x 3 point player, 4 x 2 point players and 15 x 1 pointers

North Beach 40 points - 3 x 5 point players (Garcia, Hoskins, MacKenzie), 1 x 3 point player, 4 x 2 point players and 16 x 1 point players. Nic Reid is a 1 pointer so a home grown player for North Beach?
Similar points distribution for KIngswaywho beat NB with a total of 42player points.

None of the teams looked stacked with loads of recent ex-WAFL talent, certainly not to the level of Jords claim of 15-20 ex WAFL players in a single team.

Let's not just assume that its 4 and 5 point players that are getting paid. Sure, those are the high risk ones when brought straight in from AFL, WAFL or country leagues. However, if paid players settle at a club for a period of time, or return to their club of origin from WAFL etc, wouldn't their points also be low or decrease over time such that they look low-risk but fly under the radar from a payment perspective?

Hmmm somehow I don’t think that would be a good look for the PFL or our game in general PH. Clubs would rely on sponsors to gain money to pay players! If your club has a bad reputation then why would I want to come play for you? You then change the game from players playing for there local club to a bunch of individuals playing for coin.  Also not a good look for the PFL if they have 5 to 10 teams drop out of the comp all because they couldn’t pay players. All of a sudden those teams decide to go start there own comp and everything just goes pear shape.
Already teams in higher grades forfeiting because loss of players, so does the PFL start hand out payments to help get them back on track! I don’t think so.

Why so defensive TT ? Jords reference to 15-20 players is obviously a throw away line and the rest of us get what he is alluding to.
Also include 5 pointer Boullineau, who didn't play this game for what ever reason, into Baldivis side and they are probably back upto 42points.
On top of this don't forget the ressies as there are quite a few multiple point players that i know of who would normally be in their clubs league team but can't get a game due to point restrictions.

Kick the ball, while I dont disagree with what you are saying, if they wont police the payments properly to make a level playing field then they need to allow everyone to pay above the table rather than dealing with the rumour and innuendo we get at this time each year

Guys please be careful about making unsubstantiated claims about players receiving payments. This has been reported to admin. I don’t see a problem with this discussion but have removed one comment.
