That was brutal.

I thought WAFL clubs only received between $275-300K per club but $450K means that the WAFL takes up 15% of the money spent in football in this state. Now they want to be given the funds to run colts and junior football as well? Im sure that will be well spent.

Looking forward to the inquiry today. Im expecting a professional well balanced and calm submission from the PFL, not like the effort some of the WAFL presidents put in last week. The way they acted was almost like a little kid who is about to lose all their toys. It was topped off by Jeff Dennis releasing that email to the press. Embarrassing.

The WAFL is on the edge of being in real trouble. If the two AFL clubs decide to completely remove their players from the WAFL the competition becomes irrelevant. There is no need to keep it to a higher standard to prepare AFL reserves players and the funding will slowly drain out.

Birdman wrote: What I want to see is for WAFL Clubs to get out into the community, visit us at least occasionally (game day, training night, Committee Meeting - I don't care) - at least acknowledge our existence. Our local WAFL Club hasn't won a premiership in 30 odd years and (apparently) blames a poor metropolitan zone for their lack of success. Can they not see that continuing to operate the way they have has not brought success and that maybe they need to change the way they do things?

As I wrote earlier in this thread this problem is not just limited to the metro area, we dont see them in the country either. The league is represented by three WAFL clubs and we dont see any of them. The only guy we saw was a WAFC employee whose role was to look after the juniors for all three clubs but Ive heard he has been let go in the latest sackings.

My favorite line from the enquiry today was " 60 million dollars has been poured into the WAFL over the past 6 years, one club has 4 flags on the wall another through the alignment has 2"

Imagine what 60 million would do out there in the community, floodlights, change rooms etc etc.

Well done to David & Sam today. Very professional appearance.

So lets get this straight.

A competition that represents a couple of percent of the footy participation base, receives hundreds of millions of dollars over the last 20 years, and is still literally on the verge of insolvency, now wants to classify itself as community so it can suck up the scraps of wafc money. Oh yeah, doesn't all the wafc admin $ (dont mention the leaks), go to people who spend most of their time on wafl, admin, umpiring, marketing blah blah blah.

What a bloody joke. Seriously, if the wafl tragics like the blinkered barflys at wafl clubs who vote for wafc commissioners, did the right thing and relinquish their voting privileges and allow the 95% of the market that has been completely ignored a chance to direct the game, our game will thrive.

F#CK the wafl, draft from the community, align behind the AFL.

ps Its the parents who fund the kids in their journey to the bigtime, stop crapping on about how much it costs a WAFL club to relocate a player etc. Try covering the costs of auskick to wafl, boots, fuel, jumpers, memberships, mouthguard, TIME, the list goes on. Lets not forget the thousands of dollars it cost a famiy to pay for their kids to have the privilage of playing in wafl development programs. WHAT a CON.

The WAFL clubs vote at Commission level including voting for commissioners) is 10%.
The AFL clubs are 40% each
The Rest of the Footy Community is 10%

Nice submission, bag the mob that you reckon gets too much money even though the wafc gives out the funding but you can’t bag them as you want more money for yourself.
