Yet we let a bunch of tree hugging fkwits stop this practice. Where’s the outrage of these criminals that allowed so much destruction that killed so many people and millions of animals? This is not just another bushfire that will take a couple of years to fix itself. This is huge and that worthless bunch of stooges should be taken to task. Manslaughter?

58 I think they backburned for a few reasons. I've Actually asked an Aboriginal bloke before about this.
1.Hunting up wind.
2.Break up passages between thick bush areas. So they can move around easier.
3.Somewhere to shelter when there was massive bushfires.
4.They also burnt long grass in the winter +early spring.
Also cooked there food under ground with hot coals,They where very aware of bushfires.

They also don't like going thru the long grass because of snakes.

That makes sense. Snakes like hiding in places like that.

Must be OK on the East coast as the LOOTERS are out.. Jail the bastards & name them. Give them a bit of publicity which is what the arsonists dont get..
Its a sick country but we can fall back onto the GREENIES for comfort..

From the NSW RFS Commissioner this morning

The boss of the New South Wales Rural Fire Service says hazard reduction is important but not a panacea for bushfire risk and has “very little effect at all” on the spread of fire in severe or extreme weather.
Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons on Wednesday addressed the organisation’s hazard reduction activities as bushfires fuel debate over preparation for the NSW fire season.
Fitzsimmons said hazard reduction burning was challenging and the biggest impediment to completing burns was weather.
He said there was a “shrinking window of opportunity” for more favourable burning periods as fire seasons lengthened.
“Hazard reduction is absolutely an important factor when it comes to fire management and managing fire in the landscape but it is not the panacea,” Fitzsimmons told ABC News on Wednesday.
“When you’re running fires under severe, extreme or worse conditions, hazard reduction has very little effect at all on fire spread.
“It’s only when the conditions back off a bit ... that you’ve actually got some prospect of slowing the fire spread.”
Fitzsimmons said the RFS was now achieving up to 90% of its annual burn program.

This guy is hardly a left wing tree hugger but I would take his word for it over delusional politicians. Don't worry guys why let the facts get in the way of a good anti greenie rant.

No surprises here:

Fires misinformation being spread through social media

........He said the topic appeared to be attracting a "suspiciously high number of bot-like and troll-like accounts".

The ABC found some of the suspicious accounts were amplifying unproven suggestions arson had been the overwhelming cause of Australia's disastrous bushfire season.

A number of the tweets took police figures out of context and claimed almost 200 arsonists had been arrested in NSW.

The actual number of people charged with deliberately lighting a fire is 24 — even fewer managed to spark large blazes.

An article posted by an American far-right figure went one step further, claiming left-wing ecoterrorists were responsible for lighting the blazes.......

And something that really angers me is the news from this morning. We are now told the compulsory es levy forced upon evryone when paying their council rates is being abused by the state government. If they are wasting some of the funds here, does it happen in other states?
I realise many people don't know, couldn't give a toss, are oblivious, don't care and will say 100 grand is not worth talking of.
But to blatantly waste some of the esl funds to purchase artwork is inexcusable!
Were we not all told all monies raised would help fund the fire services equipment? Wonder what has changed since then??
Would all the politicians think it funny if I walked into parliament house and simply skimmed a 100 grand off the esl account so I could purchase some 'artwork' to make my house look pretty.
And they all turn around wondering why people become bloody angry!
