Bazza wrote: One thing I will add, is the flow of people leaving pretty much started after the first innings, the people next to us left at that point , from then on till about it was a stead stream out , by about 6pm it became a quicker, by the end I would say only 20-30K remained if that. I think the transport system will have some issues with a mass exit of 50K at one point in time.

The first real test will come on Thursday.

Yep Roman without a doubt the conditions will be very different , likely to be a lot of pressure after the game

I'm getting the feeling that in one sided events crowd will come
To learn early exits highly beneficial

Posted under ODI that attendance was below expectation & this explains it a lot. . Thanks Bazza

Yeah, they don't pay for the seats, its just included in membership , so you turn up when you feel like it.
Paying patronage was much higher.

That is roughly the remarks I've often said. Surely people visit sporting events for the sport aspect? Some treat it like a drinking session which has always been a bit of a mystery.
Don't misunderstand - I'm no teatotaler or prude.
If people cannot simply watch a sporting event for 2, 3, 4 hrs or thereabouts without getting tanked up with alcoholic beverages, something is drastically wrong!
The Perth stadium looked good on television. Still far too much advertising and crap for my liking. Guessing that is an evil of our 'so called modern day and age.'

All the fuss about transport shows just how vital the pedestrian bridge will be. They expect 15k will use it, thats a quarter of the max capacity that wont be using public transport from the stadium, will make a massive difference .... if they can ever get it finished!!!

Think the foot bridge should be completed in May?

I agree with this sentiment. I go to an event to watch and don’t worry about food or drinks, apart from a bottle of water. However, saying this, when I go to a derby (the REAL derby), I take the old girl, book into a hotel and hit the cans at the game. Then we go for a nice Freo meal. Nice to get away from Bombo Valley now and then!!
As for the stadium, surely we all have to be proud of it. Not the biggest in Australia, but generally considered to be the best. Great for little old Perth. Pity it wasn’t “Perth Stadium”. Sold our soul there.

absolutely agree with everything you've said there 58. I think the instant association and recognition the name "Perth Stadium" would have brought to the city far outweighs the $10m a year the govt will receive.

Yeah I was against the name change and thought Perth promotion was worth more, but Im over it now, couldn't really careless.

What Im focused on is the outstanding facility and venue we have, as a WA person after an entire lifetime of substandard patch work sports venues it really was something to behold being there on Sunday, I said to the Mrs , I actually cant believe its happened and we are in Perth, sometimes it felt almost surreal...as if you were iin Europe or somewhere.

As for having a drinks/meals at the game, I think its part and parcel of a sports venue, I for one enjoy good service of food and beverages as do about 90% of sports patrons in Australia, its crucial that good and decent beer/ food is served and reasonable prices in a degree of comfort, its part of the experience. We are in Australia not Saudi Arabia, drinking has been part of a day at the footy or cricket since the game was invented.

But, as I have said in the past the whole mid strength over full strength beer issue was a mountain out of a mole hole, tom percy is still banging on about it on his facebook page, ffs, its 3.5% over 4.5% , 1% ! if people cant enjoy a few hours with without an extra 1% in their beer they have an issue.
The moaners should consider in Europe grog is not served at all at many sports stadiums.
