JL may be able to take the Scorchers to titles, but I think a true measure of a cricket coach is his performance in the longer form of the game

I think that's three centuries on the trot for Matt Renshaw, Freezin - he's certainly back with a vengeance.
Another good story is Queensland's other Englishman (though Renshaw, of course, is a naturalised Aussie), Charlie Hemphrey, who had unbeaten knocks of 103 and 68.
I believe a couple of English counties knocked him back (I think he played Under 23s), yet he's been a useful Shield player for the Bulls in a much stronger comp than the County Championship.

AD -- thanks I think everybody on here whom is interestted in cricket would agree with you about the importance of winning the Sheffield Shield.

Given the form of Renshaw, maybe they could use him at number three dependding on Usman's run of scores in the current series taking place in Africa?

Southerner -- I bloody hope not -- When all is said and done, in relation to Langer you are 100 per cent correct. Just because he speaks with a West Aussie tongue does not make him the right man for the job. Two outsiders -- together with some good cricketers -- helpped make us great.

IMO, get rid of the garden gnome and with him his idea of an all WA Big Bash team.

Despite the Scorchers record, I think that the (majority of) fans would prefer to see the best players available; not just because they live here.

Good ol Daryl Foster AR I had forgotten about him.
He was coach of our incredibly successful WA sides of the 70's, 80s & early 90s.
Was Wayne Clark 98/99 our only other coach to win a Sheffield Shield title?

If WA are going to look at a new coach I would like to see them approach Jason Gillespie. I know he coaches the Adelaide Strikers but I'm not sure if he is with SA in the Shield?
