Its been a very disappointing season for Hylton Cartwright. Remember he was in the running to be the test number 6 at the start of this season before the selectors opted for Sean Marsh. Now he would struggle to hold his spot in the WA team if more of our international players were available. Once Stoinis, Agar and Short return from NZ, he might find himself playing grade cricket after making his test debut only 12 months ago.

A bit harsh Mike didnt he top score in the 1st dig only last week against Future Australia (aka NSW)?
He was hitting the ball well in the 2nd innings today but inexplicably threw away his wicket when he and Phillipe were starting to put a decent partnership together to counter attack the Tassie bowlers.
Surely Bosisto has to come under scrutiny firstly only averaging 21 with the bat.

What a bloody diagrace of a scoreboard that is. That would be close to WA's lowest score in first-class cricket against Tasmania. Most of the batsment are note inexperieced either, having played 15 games or up -- that is quite a bit of first-class cricket.

Absolutely spot, and T20 form has nothing to do with Shield form.

Very close AR in fact it actually equalled it....67 vs Tas at Bellerive 5 years ago Langer's 1st game as coach (this match is his 50th).

Cartwright has 356 Shield runs this season in 14 innings at an average of 25. Not good enough for a number 3 batsman. He has been guilty of getting quite a number of scores around the 20 - 40 mark and not going on with it. I agree with you re Bosisto and he will probably be replaced by Darcy Short when he returns from NZ. One positive for WA in the gloom today was the batting of Phillipe and he should be in the team for the rest of the season

Just to emphasise how understrength the WA team was this weekend, CA counted 14 players who were unavailable for the game against Tasmania
Shaun Marsh, Mitchell Marsh, Cameron Bancroft, Jhye Richardson (all Test), Marcus Stoinis, D'Arcy Short, Ashton Agar and Andrew Tye (all T20) are all with the national team, while fast bowler Matt Kelly has also been ruled out due to back soreness, joining Nathan Coulter-Nile, Jason Behrendorff, Joel Paris, Cameron Green and David Moody on the sidelines.
Add to that Sam Whiteman who is our first choice wicketkeeper who can't do this job at the moment and was not selected as a batsman for the match. Of the players who turned out against Tasmania, only Cartwright, Turner and Mackin would have any chance of breaking into a full strength Warriors team. JL has really had to dip deep into the well this season.

Another fruitless Sheffield Shield season just about done for WA.
A reckless batting performance in our 1st Innings followed up by an ordinary bowling effort has us chasing 470 just to stay in the hunt.
I know we are missing quite a number of players on International duty and injured but some of our cricket of late has been bloody ordinary to say the least.

Yep couldnt agree more BH, we have been absolutely dominated by the Vics in this match. The bowling has leaked runs in both innings and the first innings batting was completely clueless. Noone seemed to be prepared to knuckle down and at least make things hard for the opposition who are going to get a truck load of points from this game which will get them back into the finals race. Very disappointing and there just seems to be a losing mentality around the squad which is in stark contrast to the Scorchers culture of which many of these players are a part of.

Be interesting to see if Langer persists with Short as an opener, obviously only 1 game for the guy.... definitely talented and has great clean hitting skills...if only JL can work his short format magic in the longer format.....whilst injuries have hampered WA from the off this shield season, as you say BH, still disappointing to say the least....you know u r farked when the likes of White and Finch start scoring runs against you in the longer format.....
