Now we're talking. Carl Cox, Darren Emerson and Roni Size in 2001 was a highlight.

..

Roni is up there with Phil Narkle and Leon Baker as stand out performers on our hallowed turf...although he did play behind the Macca stand from memory

Nope, played in the big Boiler room tent set up on the field at the western end, sun was still up for his set so I wasn't too off chopps. I now understand your name Dirty Weekender, Welsh D&B festival right?

I think I might have played alongside Carl Cox at a gig. (I think)

That is far too modern for 42's taste Mike! :silly:

I am no electronic music aficionado by any means but I have to say the likes of The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx & co put on some killer sets at the BDO's I saw, they had the venues pumping.

She doesn't put on any airs and graces, what you see is what you get, no affectations like lady GAGA (gag-gag)Madonna and the like, no sleek exercised to death cosmetically enhance appearance just a talented lady with the best voice since Aretha Franklin writing and performing great songs with a massively wide appeal.

I blew my hard earned on the brilliant James Taylor leewin concert so couldn't go but we listened from a mates work balcony a few hundred metres from the oval, sound was clear as a bell, could hear just about everything she said. Like Heater I thought a big arena show may not work but from all reports it was a triumph.

It sure was a great success, and got great reports all around the world, pretty lucky to be the first aussie city to see it.

mate pity you missed it, you are right, the fact she writes those hits herself is quite amazing, and yep she is very down to earth and the way she relates to audience in a straight up cockney fashion is great, its actually very ozzie in manner to be honest.

I very rarely give plaundits to WAFC but the lay out and planning was great, also to Transperth, they moved 30,000 people by train that night which is an all time record for a mid week event I understand.

Spot on mate, i was nervous how they would accomdate and plan for 65,000 in an old stadium. Im 60 and seen em all, and its the best concert i have ever been too. 2 rows from the stage was just unbeievable. My tip?, she wont tour again. And yeah the knockabout attitude just adds to the enjoyment. No need for backing singers are stupid back up dancers etc, just her and the powerful voice

Two rows from the stage, good on you, that would of been great, I was a bit further back than that.

Yep, my feeling is the same, there wont be any more tours after this. Done UK, Europe US Canada now here and NZ, sold out Maddison Square Garden NYC 4 or 5 nights in a row, what else is there left to do I guess.

Electronic music has drums and guitar, don't be so narrow minded.

Couple of Perth lads right here

It has stood the test of time; how much of the music you like will still be listened to in 200, 300, 400 years' time?

42 neither of us will be around to answer that unfortunately.

Interestingly tho recently on Double J they replayed the Hottest 100 from 21 years ago and it was a pleasure to listen too most still great songs now....not sure that the Hottest 100 from the last couple of years we could say the same!
