Basso is a great Big Day Out venue. I remember seeing Rammstein there in 2001, still one of the best live bands I've ever seen.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Foo Fighters, Nine Inch Nails & Chemical Brothers at the 2000 BDO at Basso were not too shabby either!
Soundgarden unfortunately had a on stage tiff one year there as well but a great band to see live at Basso...aahh those were the days.

Those were the days indeed. I was there in 2000, in fact I didn't miss a BDO right up to the year Iggy and the stooges played, 2006 I think. Nine Inch Nails were another favorite of mine, Trent Reznor is a genius.

I managed to see about a dozen over around that same time period although I would have loved to have seen the very first one at Fremantle Oval where Nirvana played :pinch: I even managed to catch a glimpse of the Pearl Jam set a few years back at Joondy along with a few other cheapskates from up in the bushes behind the scoreboard :cheer:

That would be some musical pairing myself and 42 tho I'm not sure we are quite on a par with our musical taste.....i tend to prefer music from at least one of the last 2 centuries!

Big Day Outs at Basso were all time faves and didn't have the international embarrassment of having to play music at a whisper like in Claremont....I'm in to electronic music and with the gigs we put on there ain't no way in hell we would get away with the decibel level Adele' s promoter did. 2 rules in this city, that's all I'm saying here...one for the rich and one for those that can't pay off the local council

Now we're talking. Carl Cox, Darren Emerson and Roni Size in 2001 was a highlight.

The very first BDO with Nirvana was Melbourne only, the only time they ever played in aus along with a show in NZ.

..

Roni is up there with Phil Narkle and Leon Baker as stand out performers on our hallowed turf...although he did play behind the Macca stand from memory
