I reckon this is the last year we will see Voges. Great career. I recall an amazing century off not many at north Sydney early in his career. Regarding the Duke balls, I watch d a little of the weekends shield games on the net. That thing was swinging all over the place!

Are they gping to introduce the Duke Balls into Australia. I think they should do so. If not, they must get kookaburra to produce balls with more pronounced seams.

Swan42: our ball does not move around enough these days, especially on the drop-in pitches. From reading the thread it appears they have already introduced it to the Shield competition.

Here is a novel idea: improve the pitches.

a couple of years ago there were a lot of problems with the kooka ball in Australia and NZ, a test in Perth they had to use 12 different balls over the test match.

you have to make a ball that can cope with any pitch.

Jason Berendorf was talking to Karl Langdon tonight.Speaking about the blinder v the Vics.
He also spoke about the differences between the Duke V Kookaburra cricket balls. The major difference being the Duke is heavier, larger seam, and more oval shaped than the Kookaburra.

How sweet was it rolling the Vics outright by an innings inside 2 days. :)
And Berendorffs incredible first up from injury bowling performance in taking 14/89 was the 2nd best bowling figures in a match for WA just behind Terry Aldermans 14/87 in 1981.
Was also impressed with the 17yo Cam Green who showed incredible character for a young bloke after dislocating his knee in the nets before play to still come out and smash a quick fire 45 with the bat and take 3/20 with the ball under duress. This young fella is going places as long as he keeps his head down.

gtr: thanks for that; a great effort by the big fast bowler too; in regards the use of ball, let us hope the ACB draw the correct conclusions from the analysis of the Shield games.

Ian Terrance Botham has always insisted that the kookaburra ball was useless.

That's four outrights in a row for the Warriors after 4 successive losses to start the season. The turning point in the whole season came in the game before xmas against Queensland when WA were 7- 120 chasing about 350. The tail managed to put on some good partnerships to get Queenslands lead down to below 100, then a magnificent bowling performance in the 2nd innings set up an easy win. They haven't looked back since then.

The last 2 games are a return fixture against Victoria (in Alice Springs FFS) and NSW at the WACA to finish off. They would probably need 2 outrights to ensure their passage to the final. One win may do it but they will be depending on other results. No reason why they cant do it because they are on a roll at the moment. Berendorff could well be the player who will make the difference as he has in this 2 day demolition.
