Its very exciting to see all this young talent being developed at the moment. It may not win WA the Shield this year but Langer certainly has them going in the right direction for success in the not too distant future. When you think that Coulter-Nile, Berendorff and Paris can potentially come back into the mix, WA have the makings of a potent bowling attack We just need a couple of young batsmen to take the reins from Voges and Klinger.
Hopefully Bancroft can kick on and get a ton tomorrow and help WA get a large first innings lead.

Is Langer in Tasmania or Sri Lanka at the moment?

Why would Langer be in Sri Lanka at the moment 42 considering the SL cricket team is currently in South Africa having their arses handed to them and then head to Australia for a few meaningless 20/20s that Langer will be involved with next week?

Forward scouting?

Also, good to see a team that is 212 runs behind can manage to get a player run out on the first ball of their second innings.

Yep Whiteman is out for the rest of the summer after courageously batting with a badly broken finger in the BB Final which he did keeping in that game.
Not all bad tho as it gives a good opportunity to blood Inglis who has been banging the door down in the Futures League with some fine performances with both the bat and gloves.
Unfortunately Paris is also officially done for the summer after breaking down again after bowling in the FL game vs SA during the week.

Ongoing preparation for our players before taking on the Poms on their turf in a couple of years time mate.

Was just doing some research about the differences between both balls,BH.
Kookaburra has a bigger seam and easier for a spin bowler to grip after 20 overs.Stays good for 80 of the 90 overs.
Duke after 50 overs will reverse once both sides of the ball are roughed up.On a dry pitch. Both balls are made to favour home sides in Ashes.

I heard both Mackin & Moody interviewed after the recent Shield games mate and both said the duke balls swing straight out of the hand which can take a little adjustment when used to the kookaburra. Not surprisingly both quickees enjoyed the dukes.

Will try and get hold of that interview.I didnt read it but i allways thought Duke was a 4 piece ball and Kookaburra was two piece. The Duke swing has killed us in the last few Ashes OVER THERE.

Good luck to Maxy on his Aussie debut in the 20/20's versus Sri Lanka, also not forgetting Jhye Richardson. Even better is that the Shield program is on hold while these games are being played so Klinger will be available for the next vital fixture at the WACA against the Vics.

Also kudos to Adam Voges who today announced his retirement from international cricket with a batting average of 61. Probably a bit unfortunate how it ended for him in the train wreck of the South African series and then getting concussed in a shield game. Hopefully he will play at least another season for WA.
