His half a season for us was one of the most dominant seen at WAFL level for some time and without disrespecting Tropiano, Mena would have bolted in for the medal had he played even 4 or 5 more games.

Geelong have got a bargain and he's still early/mid 20's so he can give them plenty of service if his body holds up.

Yes that was one of the reasons, though some extra $$$ was another.

Good on him and how well is he now going at Geelong. If Freo could have realised??? Use to win their 3km time trials and his skills on the track should have told you he had something...oh well.

Yes cant deny he would have got more bucks at subi but everyone knew including the club that we may not have him for long as his singular focus was to break back into an AFL list. His presence at Subi was very very positive and his elite levels of training set an example to everyone else on the track. he is a very driven individual and deserves his chance.

Why would he have "got more bucks" at Subi? I thought there was a salary cap and surely EF could have matched what Subi offered him? Unless of course they offered him enducements outside the cap??

The points system and salary cap is obviously not working or having its desired effect, and that is to level out the competition.

Maybe after losing McDougal, Stockley, Bristow Hampson & Hilderbrandt to retirement, injury or other clubs, Subi would have had plenty of spare points and salary cap dollars to spare.

DD please tell me what your clubs record is with the salary cap, anything to report there?

Yeh no problem pal, disgruntled former player dobbed in on the club. From memory it was a clerical error and the WAFC handed down the biggest fine in WAFL history $20,000 reduced to $10,000 on appeal. It was an absolute disgrace. Your club just hasn't been caught yet. And with a former president on the WAFC board that is unlikely to change anytime soon. I mean you are co-tenants at the Centre of Excellence aren't you?

DD are you casting aspersions on a former Subi president and current WAFL board members character, If so I ask that admin immediately sanction DD for his slanderous and unsubstantiated claims and comments.

Actually Chris Bossong didn't rat on Perth FC - during the lodgement of Transfer documentation (and the ensuing allocation of rating points for the cap) he & South Fremantle FC had to declare payments and what Boss was paid the previous contract he had with Perth FC

During this a minor discrepancy was uncovered which WAS indeed a clerical error by a PFC official , there was no cheating as such simply a lodgement error

Harsh penalty I thought at the time

Thanks for clarifying that one Southerner. It definitely was heavy handed I dare say the WAFC would be too shit scared to hand down such a penalty to the Lions even though it's chump change for them they would probably get their legal eagles writing a strongly worded swift response. Much easier to pick on the weaklings instead of the big boys.
