Too late now, but it's a pity Col didn't have another crack at the water from the north project again.

Let's recall that Barnett said there will never be a deficit whilst I am Premier of WA. We all know that IS A LIE and a BROKEN PROMISE. Of all the railway lines that should be built it is extremely doubtful that a rail link to the domestic and international airports are of the highest priority and let me guess: is Forrestfield a marginal electorate?

How much did it cost to change everything from the Esplanade Busport and Train station to Betty's Jetty? What a complete and utter waste of limited finances.

Interesting the discussion re Department of Health expenses and the selective comparison between nurses and interns/registrars and RMOs salaries in WA and Victoria and NSW. Of course it WAS BARNETT who made the decision with the nurses and doctors to agree with their demands because he didn't want it to be a factor in the previous election.

And one should not forget his coup de grace of losing our triple A rating IN THE MIDDLE of A MINING BOOM.

In fairness to the Barnett Government the GST Distribution in an apsolute disgrace for WA.Federation has been seriously damaged by this.
The Barnett Government also has its own problems.A lot to do with the Premiers 2ic Dr Haymes or DR Haynes.Everything hes touched in the last couple of years has been a disaster.Hitachi and the open cheque book for the IT at Stanley Hospital.40 mill is now 140 mill.Perths Childrens hospital is another, selecting a builder that did not have the expertises to do the project. The completion date of August 2015+comissioning.Construction work will still be going in August 2016...8 Subcontractors insolvent and sadly 2 employers well thats been well documented in the media.
I still believe the Premier wants the best for WA.To be fair most of our massive debt is funding infrastructure trying to keep the state moving.

The bloke is at least one with some vision, he will leave with the greatest infrastructure programme and development achievements since the Brand Court era. The Water from the north really was one I would of loved to see.

1.1.1 The Commission has found conduct and practices on the part of certain persons involved in government in the period from 1983 to 1989 which were such as to place our governmental system at risk. Unfortunately, some of that conduct and some of those practices were peculiar to Western Australia; but there is no reason to believe that many of the fundamental questions raised by our inquiry were unique to this period or to this State. On the contrary, as detailed studies in other States and overseas clearly demonstrate, they have been raised elsewhere as a consequence of events similar to those which we have experienced.

1.1.2 Some ministers elevated personal or party advantage over their constitutional obligation to act in the public interest. The decision to lend Government support to the rescue of Rothwells in October 1987 was principally that of Mr Burke as Premier. Mr Burke's motives in supporting the rescue were not related solely to proper governmental concerns. They derived in part from his well-established relationship with Mr Connell, the chairman and major shareholder of Rothwells, and from his desire to preserve the standing of the Australian Labor Party in the eyes of those sections of the business community from which it had secured much financial support.

1.1.3 Subsequently, Mr Dowding, as Premier, presided over a disastrous series of decisions designed to support Rothwells when it was or should have been clear to him and to those ministers closely involved that Rothwells was no longer a viable financial institution. This culminated in the decision to involve the Government, through WAGH, in the Kwinana petrochemical project as a means of removing the Government's contingent liability for certain of the debts of Rothwells. Electoral advantage was preferred to the public interest.

1.1.4 Personal associations and the manner in which electoral contributions were obtained could only create the public perception that favour could be bought, that favour would be done.[9]:p.22

Ahahah now that's comedy!! Keep on drinking that milk Bazza! Nothing Barnett has done will benefit the common man! All he does is stick up Electricity prices and then tell people not to run their aircons!
Fact - The Barnett Government inherited the best set of public finances in Australia from the previous WA Labor Government. They also inherited the Fiona Stanley Hospital project – a fully funded, planned, and designed tertiary hospital that was the centre piece of WA Labor’s vision for Health in Western Australia, and the Liberal Govt are struggling to manage it. So don't bullshit to everyone that Old Col is a visionary mate!!
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!
