BC this may be one of the rare occasions we agree on something. If we take Ryan Crowley as an example he has not only been contracted to play for Swans but also to be one of our assistant coaches. So will the AFL/Essendon provide compensation for not only a player but also a coach. What is even more breathtaking than Hird's and Essendon's belief in an unreal world, thoughit is not unexpected, is the contempt shown by the AFL with their total disregard for the impact of taking players out of the WAFL and SANFL might have on those clubs and competition.

Why should any non-AFL club be negatively impacted because of Essendon's and the AFL's failure to provide good governance of their club and their competition respectively?

yes 42..on this one we do agree. if i were a WAFL club I'd be playing hard ball if those mongrels came sniffing around a contracted player. my personal view is to tell them to get stuffed but I guess if one of your players wants to go then that's fair enough but his WAFL club should get a free kick for it...and a bloody big one at that.

Totally agree BC. A huge free kick to any WAFL club that loses a player...

even more so for a club like Perth smokey..Subi could probably absorb the loss of say Lockyer or Broughton but if the Dees lost Troppo for arguments sake if would leave a huge hole in your mids...so you'd think the compensation package would be significant....but knowing the wank*ers at the AFL/WAFC ..they'll probably mandate that if a player is approached to go to the bummers and the said player wants to go then his club gets sfa..or a token payment at best.

Would be an even bigger hole if both Troppo and Jones leave. Would set the club back six steps after coming forward 3 steps with this year's recruiting.
I wonder if a WAFL club could just refuse to clear a player to Essendon if not satisfied with any compensation offered?

I think you may find that the impact on the WAFL is minimal if this article is to be believed.

www.afl.com.au/news/2016-01-14/which-top...-the-bombers-turn-to

This goes through the possibilities that Essendon have for top up players and only mentions one WAFL player ( Matt Watson who has signed for East Fremantle). They do flag ex freo players Ballard and Duffield however.

I tell a lie. Darcy Cameron was on the ruckmen list as well but still only 2 possibilities at this stage. Won't be a mass exodus. A lot of the recruits will come from the VFL and recently delisted players.

Confirmed, not surprising really. Will be interesting to see what Swans will get if anything.

There would have been an exit clause in his contract for if an AFL offer came up so that's not an issue, the real problem is trying to smuggle all those brown paper bags back to the DuckHead office.
