Given that most of if not all 12 banned players would return for 2017 any top up players taken should be on a loan basis only for the 2016 season so at the end of the 2016 season they automatically resume their status with their current club. And the WAFL club for instance should be duly compensated.

If the player performs well then he's a good chance to be drafted the following season not necessarily by Essendon.

BC i doubt there is a player running around in the WAFL at league level that would regard himself as a second rate top up given a chance in any AFL side. You don't get to be at WAFL level without having a helluvalot of belief in yourself and most have a hard luck story as to why they aren't at AFL level.

DD that sounds like a reasonable measured fair solution so you can guarantee the AFL wont consider it!!

BC wrote: yep..agree grassy. this is not your average drafting of players where WAFL clubs just accept their fate...given its a one off for 12 months i'm hoping my club stands on its digs and asks for adequate compensation for any contracted player taken by the Bummers or conversely tells Essendone to pi$$ off.

BC this may be one of the rare occasions we agree on something. If we take Ryan Crowley as an example he has not only been contracted to play for Swans but also to be one of our assistant coaches. So will the AFL/Essendon provide compensation for not only a player but also a coach. What is even more breathtaking than Hird's and Essendon's belief in an unreal world, thoughit is not unexpected, is the contempt shown by the AFL with their total disregard for the impact of taking players out of the WAFL and SANFL might have on those clubs and competition.

Why should any non-AFL club be negatively impacted because of Essendon's and the AFL's failure to provide good governance of their club and their competition respectively?

One easy solution. Totally remove the arrogant, disruptive, dishonest club from the AFL and start a new club in Tassie.

Must admit I nearly choked on my cornflakes this morning when I read in the local rag that Essendon had ruled out recruiting Crowley because of his drug record  Something about a kettle and a black pot came to mind. :silly:

mikeh: I agree, but they are obviously trying to turn over a new leaf; in any case, it is good news for SD

It wouldn't get any approval from me,but that sort of move, would not garner Positive feelings to say the least.

It would Pot and Kettle stuff if it was Little and Evans,Mikeh.Wait and see with Tanner.

I always thought that Tanner had a fair bit of integrity as a Politician so my feeling is that Essendon are in good hands there.
