At least the Windies showed a bit of bottle today to hold the Aussies out till tea. If they can take that application into the 2nd innings you just never know, they may be able to save the game. Unlikely I know but this pitch is giving nothing to the bowlers.

disagree Grassy...the Aussies will bat for about an hour..then bowl for an hour before lunch. its all about workload management of the quicks. the bowlers had 100 overs in the windies first innings and on a betting friendly pitch will probably do the same in the second dig. a good move by Smith not to enforce the follow on for mine given there's still 2 days to play....no need to.

He most definitely should have enforced the follow-on. Hope the WI show even more bottle and hold out. All he has done is give the WI batsmen a night's sleep. Hopefully Sameuls won't be given out unless he is actually out. The Australians get favouralble decisions all the time, and we know how much the same umpire helped them against NZ.

I noticed no one has commented on the pathetic attempts of some of the commentators to get Pattinson a wicket off that first no-ball, particularly the little opener whom started the nonsense of kissing the badge. There are two things that are sad about the whole thing: one the coverage goes around the world, whatever the cogent criticisms which people have made on here about the commentators in the past, they will all have jobs for life.

Grassy -- I thought he was umpiring in this game, and he had made more errors. Alas not, it is a fellow from NZ. Actually, I think he is in NZ for their one-day series with Sri Lanka.

Good to see the Windies more competitive in the 2nd test. They have also been on the end of a few horrible LBW decisions. Some of that due to the fact they have not used the review system correctly. At the time of my post the new ball is 4 overs away Holder50 and Ramdin 56.If they hold this partnership till stumps we will have a good days cricket tommorow.
