I'm sure that's what I heard ?????????

Barnet has said people will have to get used to taking the train to the footy, in other words you will not be able to get within cooeee of it in car so tell me what the attraction is to having it beside the Casino? Do you think James Packer is going to allow thousands of sweaty smelly football fans decked out in their teams kit and carrying a bag they took their lunch in to the Crown Casino? I don't think so. Another well thought out masterplan by Colin Barnett.

It is probably easier now at Subi if you want you can walk back to your car, have a change of shirt, a bit of deodorant and off you go and dump your bag, footy budget, cap etc... in the car and go wherever you want to go for tea whether it be Subi, city, Burswood or elsewhere which i think a lot of people do.

How about parking at Burswood casino DD did you not think of that!!

Yeh right, it's a battle to park at Burswood most of the time without a football stadium there. Good luck if you think you are going to get a parking spot at the Casino and Mr Packer will be making damn sure football patrons will not be allowed to take up his parking bays.

The lack of parking (whether specifically for the stadium of finding something nearby) highlights the lack of infrastructure in the area.

I think people should make more use of public transport - but the reality is you need some parking around there. These half-baked ideas of this huge footbridge to East Perth show poor overall consideration to the whole concept.

They may well be designing a world class stadium for Burswood - but the surrounds sound 3rd world at present.

Everyone keeps going on about parking...fact is there is there is Bugger all parking at Subi and there always has been bar that strip near the railway line of gravel that is now long gone, and guess what the Subiaco council has ripped off mug parkers for decades due to the fact with fines.

A few bays at the old SFC car park and a few on the grass at the park ( highly restricted anyway), there used to be a park opposite the old gates you could park in but that is now all gone as well.

Packer will want parking there for all the footy followers so they stay after the footy and go to his Casino - If the Govt don't supply it then I got a feeling Packer will - Just to keep them there and give their $$$ to him !!!

Getting back to the thread title, this is going to be a hard choice. While I'm a peeved at Barnett's arrogance a aloofness, I keep thinking how we needed to get Howard out and new blood in....and just look at how that has panned out!! Macca would go in with great intentions, but they all soon lose them.

True, but is easy to forget the big mistake John Howard made was going too far with industrial relations reform and stripped away minimum wages and conditions. No question he had to go and I doubt Tony Abbot would be that stupid to bring those reforms back in but he will cut back spending and cash handouts and he will take a hard line to people who think they can just rock up on our shores and take us for a ride.

Barnett has just gone too far for my liking and he just does what HE THINKS. McGowan has served a good apprenticeship in politics after a career in the Navy and I think he is a good alternative. His predecessor Eric Ripper was another arrogant fool. If he was still in as opposition leader I would rather put up with Colin for another 4 years.
