That's the problem McGowan wants to revisit the idea of Kitchener Park. This state is crying out for a new stadium and it needs it quick. For 8 years now the people in charge of this state has been pussy footing aroung the issue. Alan Carpenter once said that his new stadium (Kitchener Park Site) would be available for games of AFL in 2014 and would not be fully completed until 2016.

Then Barnett took over and East Perth/Burswood was back on the agenda and finally they decided on Burswood.

And Back in September McGowan was talking about the idea of builing the new staduim at Subiaco unless Crown Limited provided half a billion dollars.

WA needs a "WORLD CLASS" stadium and they need it now. We don't need to wait a further 12-18 months while they deliberate again about where the stadium should be located.

Yes but that's where Barny has pulled another con Mr AFL. He knows football followers have been crying out for a new stadium so he has paid lip service to us by announcing one is to be built.........in 2018 or 2020? Not good enough if you ask me, construction should have started on a new stadium in his current term of government. There is arrogance right there. If McGowan gets in he can build one in half the time.

I like McGowan but he is in favour of building one in Subiaco. And if he gets in I fear that by this time next year we will still be mucking around with where to build the stadium.

I was once against building a new stadium at Subiaco but the more i think of Burswood the less i like it because you won't able to drive and park within cooee of it and it will be a very long walk and i reckon getting near it by car will be a nightmare.

At Subiaco there are several various ways you can make your way to Subi and public transport is still an option. As long as they build a new one at Kitchener Park and don't try to refurbish the existing stadium I think that is looking like a better option and perhaps sink the railway line back a bit further so we can build a decent size stadium of around 70 000 plus.

Didn't intend this to become a stadium debate but what the hell it is still relevant.

yeah redevlop a suburban ground with Crap access. Dare we suggest opening Perth up and incoroprate a casino, and whatever on the banks of the river, hell we could even knock down glouster park and open that up.....oppps nah that would upset the 3 people that go the trots every week. I have had personal contact with Mr Mcgowan on numerous occassions... NOT A NICE MAN AT ALL.

Subi cannot handle a crowd of 40k now, how on earth is it going to handle 70k+ in the future ffs??? Built it at Burswood asap!

I couldnt care less about the new stadium to be honest, Bassendean is my place to be, but i reckon Burswood will be a disaster due to a lack of ways to get there, it will need massive public transport infrastructure and that will blow the cost out of the water, ill be voting labour and i hope McGowan scraps it and Barnett Quays, too or at least re- names it something appropriate, maybe after a great West Australian like John Todd or Something
