Luna Park - Used to be a small time rides/amusement park in Scarborough where Coles is now.

The Scarborough Pinnies - When I was a schoolboy I used to cash in soft drink bottles and head down there to play as many machines as I could. Some times if I won enough free games on a machine I'd sell all of them to older blokes for 20c to get my money back. One of the worst days of my life when they were demolished. In a life full of downs and not many ups, winning $20 as a 12 year old for breaking the all time high score on Mata Hari at Toms was about as good as it got.

Scarborough High School - Not sad about that though as wasn't smart enough to get past year 10 anyway.

Flashing Swan/Swan Lager sign on the river - It was the height of technology for me at the time. Two signs on the one building. Wow!

Nearly every burger bar - Only a few remain, like Alfreds, Peter's By The Sea and the one is Freo which used to be called Captain Munchies. We used to have at least 20, several along Stirling Highway alone. A few used to be called "Eats"

haha..yeah that's it.

I remember all the halls off by heart.

Minderbinders to the extreme north, then erm Gay Gordon's, Peter's By the Sea, Some little joint that only had a few games but had that huge machine called The Atarians, A Fish n Chips place with about 6/8 machines and then Toms to the extreme South.

Just around the bend to Scarborough Beach Road was Paradise Island where the chicks from year 8 went on Friday nights when I was 13. But that's a food hall now.

True.
It seems like it's more dangerous at night there nowadays than it was back when I was a kid. It had a pretty bad reputation in the 70's and 80's but it wasn't so bad from memory. I don't remember getting hassled by any older kids or anything.

All the drive-in theaters in the metropolitan area apart from "The Galaxy" in Kingsley, are long gone. Sad.

Not sure for how long The Galaxy will remain but here's hoping it's for a while yet.
