Have to disagree with you there Dog. As much as you want to believe that, purple is now the colour of Freo. It will just take time for the Freo committee to realise that they must embrace the town that is there home.

They can be based at Cockburn but still have Fremantle oval as a place for fans to come and celebrate success when it finally comes for them.

Much like Hawthorn have done with Princess Park, Waverley and the MCG. They lastplayed at Glenferrie in about 1972.

Yeh I see what you are saying TF and I suppose it is like me who follows SD but live in Gosnells, I could live in Basso/Guildford though! Lovely area.. I don't think someone like Bazza has embraced The Dockers just because they have the word Fremantle in their name, and I think he would be among thousands, but there are of course thousands more that have embraced it. WAFL clubs are built on the foundations of their area, whereas teams like Freo, WCE etc are just corporate entities no matter what they say. But yeh the purple is a unique marketing ploy, and If you mix red/white and blue/white you get purple so maybe that was their thinking

I was in Melbourne when Brisbane lions won their first GF, they really embraced their Fitzroy connection,,,they had their family day the following Sunday at the old Brunswick Street Oval and old stand,,,it was really moving, and a great celebration of their heritage,

They got some much right during the week. The council supported them, fans flocked to Freo during the week and on match day. Business's did well. People had a great week.

On another note the marketing team that adopted purple as there primary colour have done a great job in promoting this fact. Amazing to see such a strong colour dominate the week.

Yeah the purple is a huge improvement on the green red white purple they had, actually if look closely, the new purple is very different from the original one, it's actually not purple it's more blue,

Totally agree with swandog. The dockers are not very fremantle, they are not a real club, just a business organisation marketed to represent fremantle.

Fremantle has had a long association with aussie rules football because for over 100 years it has been represented by two strong clubs in the w.a.f.l. The dockers have had to "borrow" from the rich footballing tradition and history associated with Fremantle because of course they don't have any themselves being one of the least successful clubs in the league.

And also the irony of West Coast supporters coming on here and slagging off on the Dockers and questioning their commitment to Fremantle . So the Eagles spiritual home is.......? Scarborough beach perhaps? At least Fremantle is a geographical location with a postcode.

Anchorman I think you may need to take a breath & relax. Your getting caught up in meaningless & pointless arguments. All supporters including dockers fans believe it or not, throw hatred at others from time to time. Don't get yourself all worked up. Your letting people get under your skin . So Freo lost a GF, it's happened to all of us. Just stay dignified & loyal. Others can please themselves, but don't get all defensive . It looks bad & I reckon maybe that is the reaction some may be trying to get out of you. But bagging other clubs I guess culture isn't a good way to win a footy argument .

Absolutely spot on,,,I still reckon the dockers would of been far better to follow the port Adelaide model,,and build from the combined base of SF and EF ...but alas they just went for some sterile corporate body with zero connection to grass roots clubs, run by the mysterious. WAFC who oddly enough run their rivals the WCE as well!!! Whole thing is farcical...if anyone thought freo were actually freo,,,this post grand final effort today should but paid to that myth,

WCE embraces the entire state,,,at least they are not trying to be something they are not,,,WCE is original and highly successful marketing wise,,
