And Bazza .... Freo just a name?? really? After watching a sea of purple virtually engulf the Hawthorn supporters in Melbourne during the last week? Hawthorn established themselves as a VFL club and can have a family day at Glenferrie because they didn't have to fly out of town to compete in a Grand Final in a competition that is still a VFL but called an AFL because there are just a few interstate teams that happen to be a minor inconvenience to the Victorians.

And before you go and say that Hawthorn deserved the right to stay at home because they finished top and Freo third, well the situation would have been exactly the same if Freo had finished top and Hawthorn 3rd. Also if it wasn't for the formation of these interstate clubs and their injection of money into the game, many of these 'traditional' clubs, perhaps including Hawthorn would be extinct right now.

Crap,,,they are having a family day at glenferrie because it's their traditional base, isn't freo oval the dockers heartland...obviously not,,,

Thing is Mikeh, the AFL didnt decide to have FREO go to SUBI, it is i suspect a WAFC decision. So much for looking after the game in WA

It would of been the dockers themselves I'd say,,they organise all their own functions,,,so. If they had won the cup would of been brough back to a celebration at Subi....what a total joke,

They basically just turned their back on the town they are supposed to represent, so much for all the businesses and council that decorated the place ....

The Subi Dockers.

Fremantle isn't representative of Fremantle as we keep hearing in the media etc etc, it is utter bullshit!, they are a big business with fans from all over, the only sides that represent the area of Fremantle are South Freo and East Freo, always have and always will be, as Bazza said it is just a name
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

20 000 there yesterday with no problems. Should be at Freo oval. The Dockers home.

They got some much right during the week. The council supported them, fans flocked to Freo during the week and on match day. Business's did well. People had a great week.

Subi is nothing more than a stadium were they play.

On another note the marketing team that adopted purple as there primary colour have done a great job in promoting this fact. Amazing to see such a strong colour dominate the week.

Saying that happy as the Poos and Wees came home with the chocolates.

Hmmm dunno bout that. Seems to me die hard Freo people who had footy in "thier culture" associated the town with the team, including of course the HOME base at freo oval. Man united etc are a huge business as well, but could never imagine them going to London to celebrate a league title etc. I would also "guess" that many Sth Freo and East Freo wafl fans (assuming they supported AFL), would be behind the dockers moreso than eagles.

Have to disagree with you there Dog. As much as you want to believe that, purple is now the colour of Freo. It will just take time for the Freo committee to realise that they must embrace the town that is there home.

They can be based at Cockburn but still have Fremantle oval as a place for fans to come and celebrate success when it finally comes for them.

Much like Hawthorn have done with Princess Park, Waverley and the MCG. They lastplayed at Glenferrie in about 1972.
