Viper that would be the AFL clubs problem not the state league teams problem. They have reserves or aligned teams for just this situation. They would all have faced major injury to a number of players from time to time and have to deal with that by using their leftovers/reserves players who all train and play to the clubs game plan and processes, surely a better bet than a complete outsider with no idea how the clubs football department operates.

I'm not too sure that many state league players would find a 5 - 10 day trip to the eastern states very attractive given they all have to actually work for a living or study. I'm not sure too many bosses would be excited by losing a worker for a week or two given the crisis we have in WA with worker shortages, that time away plus the 14 days iso when coming back means a month off work. Maybe some players might consider the two local teams but not so much interstate. Even with the local AFL teams anyone they pinch out of the WAFL will have to be in that clubs "bubble" and wont be able to work or study.

My main issue with all this is that the WAFL clubs will no doubt have their own players getting infected as well. When you combine a handful of players in isolation with Covid with a normal level of injuries then send a couple up to the AFL clubs it has the potential to decimate a WAFL club on any given week.

The AFL don't care about the State leagues like the WAFL.  Never have, never will.

Go and ask a couple and see what they say. I have a feeling a few would love the opportunity to pull on an AFL jumper. They'd make it work somehow as some would call it the opportunity of a lifetime presented thanks to covid.

There is also potential the AFL to bring in another "mid season" draft to help cope with issues so the players could come from anywhere in AUS if that were the case.
